Thread: what is ANBU?

err...just started watching naruto anime. been wondering what is ANBU actually? are they ninjas that take care and eliminates ninja's corpse when they died (and maybe exiled ninja as well) to maintain secrecy of hidden village and ninja techniques?

or are they just a group of jounin when they are on a mission?

or maybe they are kinda special mission that do dirty work 4 hokage or maybe ninja's military organization?

well....the point is, WHAT IS ANBU?

hopefully somebody could explain 2 me or give me a link about ANBU. tq

ANBU is like a secret organization of Assasins that follow the orders of the Hokage, or complete/lead extremely difficult missions. To get into ANBU, you have to be a highly skilled and trusted Shinobi. You also have to be ruthless, and not rely on human emotion to make your decisions. I also think that ANBU members undergo some special training to increase their strength beyond normal ninja.

They are a group of ninjas that have various different duties (Like you said, taking care of corpses to make sure that secret jutsus aren't leaked to other countries) and are top secret in their operations. An example of a former ANBU member was Kakashi.

I think that some of their duties would be to guard the Hokage as well, or serve as bodyguards and keepers of secret techniques, relics, scrolls, etc.

what's a shinobi? and can you pls kindly explain the different ranks of ninjas in Naruto? only started reading chapter 190 of the manga thats why i have no idea as well >.<

a shinobi is a ninja, so every character is a shinobi in naruto. There are gennin, which have only graduated from shinobi school. They can only take d and maybe c level missions (there are d to s level missions with d being the easiest and s being the hardest, most life endangering mission). To move up a rank you must pass the chuunin exam (of the characters in naruto, in the anime to this point, at least, shikamaru is the only gennin. That has changed in the recent manga) Chuunin can take on up to b or a level missions (i think) I dont know how one becomes a jounin but they are the kakashi's and gai's of the world and can take on any mission. There is also the hokage which is the most powerful ninja in the land, which is why they lead their people.

Yup, NeoShweaty was pretty accurate in describing it. If you are in ANBU basically you are the upper 5% of all Shinobi, making you probably the best in Leaf Village.

ANBU is a pretty cool subber who used to bring us....Naruto and good stuff.
