either they were looking for infor mation,or they wanted to scare konoha into letting naruto handle it alone or something like that(like wat the cloud did-she had no backup)
but mostly it was to get the money that kakuzu guy wanted.

firstly, even if there were one jinchuuriki for every village we cant be sure they are still living in their own village.jinchuurikis are mostly excluded from the society.
and second there cant be any jinchuuriki in akatsuki.they are trying to extract the bijus and if the biju is extracted the jinchuuriki dies.

nah jinchuurikis are still in their village....otherwise they could run away and become enemies....they're excluded though.......

they'll b excluded from society but will still b guarded as that specific bijuu 'belongs' to the village

oh ok. Then I bet we're going to hear more about the Grass village because they haven't really been any notable ninjas in the series from there.

I just had noticed I completely forgot something when I first brought this topic up and seemingly never rembered to add it, since I don't recall seeing a similar commment it must be said. The fact of the matter is the numbers don't add up. I know some people don't know what I mean, but thankfully this has no where near the length of some of my other posts. Most have kind of assumed that the Akatsuki planned to each resonate with and become a container for a bijuu. Not possible simply because they originally had ten members and there are only nine bijuu, I'm sure that noone in the group would choose to be the one without. I know someone's thinks that doesn't mean any thing they could have altered there plans after Oro left, but remember the rings and how they obviously play a role in the extraction of the bijuu. Unfortunately this doesn't answer what the Akatsuki's goal is or who their leader, but it helps with process of illimination.
Also I know of the whole debate of AL right-handed and Yondaime left-handed. This really has limited importance since by their very nature some of the most elite ninja would be ambidextorous[(sp?)capable of using either hand with similar if not the same level of skill].

Very true there are eight now, but that's because of Orochimaru leaving and Sasori's death. Though it was somewhat implied that Tobi may replace Sasori and they couldn't replace Orochimaru because he took his ring with him. So originally ten but I'll go ahead and more to this even though it's fairly simple to begin with. Just look back to chapter 255 page 04, quote one of the Akatsuki "Three days huh.... Given that we don't Orochimaru, I wonder if we shouldn't allow for a bit more time?" In other words they originally consisted of ten members.

It might be that the nine people were supposed to collect the bijuu to the benefit of the leader?
Just a stupid thought but I think that no one would be without benefit and still be in the Akatsuki. Seems like a good deal to me, normal members get the Jinchuuruki and the leader gets ???
