I'm pretty sure that's a lot of what fuels the popularity of characters like Iruka. Not that Iruka is a bad character, just that...we haven't seen him in ages, and he's still rated rather too high for my liking.

At least, I'm fairly certain that it's going to be female readers voting for Deidara. Characters like Sasuke, it's likely both. And there aren't very many female characters to choose from to begin with. But your point is a good one, I just don;t think it applies here.
