Must be surgery. That side of his face did get smashed by a rock.
Well, until he loses the mask completely, we can never be 100%. The guy is a great pretender.
one thing about this chapter though, why did Tobi just sit there and let Kakashi make that whole long explanation without doing anything? maybe he was still recuperating from the rasengan, but he could have still tried something.
Itīs always like that. Donīt think too much about it (Kishi needed to explain so everyone would be able to follow).

i just want to see if i get this jutsu correctly or not. is it an involantary movement for tobi to go intangible or does he have to choose each and every time when he becomes intangible or not? and is there a limit on how long his body can stay in that other dimesnsion?
Konan showed us that he can only maintain it for about five minutes. Though it begs the question if this is indeed the same eye.
Why are the abilities of Obito's eyes so different from other sharingan. One question i had long ago was how did Deidara get his arm back when Kakashi sucked it away with Kamui so long ago. I guess now Tobi must have gone and gotten it back for him.
Still him being Obito is up in there are. The earliest confirmed time we see Tobi is the night of the Kyubi attack. Which is roughly two years after the bridge mission. Though we have Tobi's claim that he gave Nagato the rinnegan so long ago.
The biggest question is why? Obito was a fairly simple guy. Had a crush and wanted to be respected in his clan.
This whole world peace through control and all the evil it is rout. As well as manipulating Yagura to start the bloodline wars. Which we can not place an exact date for. Meaning he could be older still.
It just seems like a cop out right now if true.

Judging by the fact that he comments about how Kakashi is all talk. Leads me to believe that he's either Obito (who's angry with him because he didn't save Rin even though he promised - likely), or its.. Kakashi himself (from the future/parallel universe). <-what a great twist that would be.
One of the reasons why Obito (or Kakashi) doesn't feel quite right is because we know that Tobi fought the Fourth Hokage seemingly as an adult, whereas Kakashi was just a teen: http://manga.animea.net/naruto-chapter-502-page-3.html
Obito would have been the same age too.
More than likely Obito's eyes are just one of his collections..
Finally someone pointed that out. Even if Obito was to grow up he would've been around Kakashi and Gai's height and less like a full grown adult even in stature with the 4th, imho... but then again I think it's all but been confirmed that Tobi has no ordinary body, oozing off hands and such when severly damaged. Hoping its not Obito as well cause at this point it would feel like a cop out to me... but then again if its not and it turns out to be some new person wouldn't that also seem like a copout (for the sake of Kishi NOT making be Obito) as well? Dont care at this point.
P.S. Weird how Tobi seemed to have lost his kool there in his resentment of Kakashi. Almost... childish.
"He is now declaring his words to the WORLD!"
if it is Obito then he wouldn't be in his original body to begin with, or he at least would have had some things replace/modified/changed, because his entire right side of his body had been crushed.
