I think it will be fire or lava. In the last chapter Son Goku gives him something through Ninja Bro Fist Bump transfer. I think it's the affinity for lava that his jinchuuriki might have

I think earth would be more fitting, since it's an element we don't see as much of and 9Ts mode seems to have some effect on the environment. Then there's the whole deal with Nature chakra, and it would fit Kishi's infatuation with giving Sasuke the upperhand against Naruto (Fire conquers Wind, Lightning conquers Earth)...

Naruto is strong as fuck now, but the lack of another element still strikes me as a big missing piece, or a missed opportunity.

I don't think kishi really intended for the element thing to be that important to Naruto's way of fighting, I think he more just used the elements to explain all the crazy jutsu like wood release, garra's sand, etc. and to amp up the rasengan. Other than that I don't think he really planned for Naruto himself to use it that much. Which, I agree is kind of dissapointing. I think it would have been cool to see naruto use more element type techniques

That's, sadly, probably so. Which reminds me, during the training to add wind element to the Rasengan, didn't Kakashi say he was going to explain Dark and Light elements later on?

Well, we more or less got hints about that, those being the yin and yang elements, used for Genjutsu and so on...Don´t really remember it that good anymore.

Valid point indeed. Goku did say what he was giving Naruto would help him as well so it may very well indeed be his ability to use Lava.... but if thats the case wouldn't that, by extension, give Naruto the affinity of Fire and Rock as well.
