Having enhanced perception of pending attacks is one thing, but at the end of the day he is still a human and he has to focus in order to avoid and react to attacks. You make it sound its as if he has to dodge and react to everything that's thrown at his way from now on. What happened here?. If you ask me he should've been able to dodge or at least sense that big 5 tailed bastard was coming his way but he couldn't why? Because in the heat of the moment, no pun intended, his mind was focused on 2 things; the hot pain of grabbing the 4 tail and his determination to hit the rod out with his rasengan. The way the chapter was played out shit got hot pretty fast... so fast that it caught naruto off balance. The 7 tail came flying at him directly pretty fast but he was able to block/deflect that hard blow, then IMMEDIATELY after that unbalancing blow the 2 tail pulled some acrobatic shit and ran up and around the Hachibi's arm to strike from behind, then finally after all that shit (by that time Naruto being well and good discombobulated) the 3 tail tagged him from behind. Even though they are not as fast as naruto they are all still godly fast, sharingan observant and rinnegan connection enhanced enough to pull of quick attacks like that. It made sense to me. Also so what if the Hachibi and 9 tails are the strongest? All that means is that their chakra reserves are greater. Seeing as how the Hachibi is full beast that makes him the biggest target and Naruto is still the same size as the jinchus so they are at a disadvantage. This is a spastic battle situation and everything is topsy turvy right now so they are both being confused, it happens. This battle is going exactly like its supposed to go for me, I wasnt expecting 2 jinchus (1 who can go all beast and the other who can only use his jinchu-human mode) to take on 6 super enhanced jinchus.
I agree with you though Blue on Kishi plot-no-jutsuing us. From the very beginning I was not liking the fact that "Naruto is now the fastest ninja" bs. I hated the fact that he was able to surpass the Raikage in terms of speed and only saw that as a stupid excuse for Kishi to draw even more similarities between him and his father. "O what was that, the only person that was able to dodge me was Minato!! O snap, his son can too.... fricken Yellow Flash Reincarnated!!" *GAGS*. Even though Naruto is "faster" than the Rai-man it never really seems to me like hes a true speedster like the old man. EVERYTHING about the Raikage was based around the fact that he's super fast, same with Minato. Kishi only seems to emphasis Naruto's speed when its convenient and hasn't committed fully labeling him as a speedster in the same light as Raikage and Minato in my mind, and that is frustrating to me. Not to mention compared to the Lightning imbued, which enhances his synapses and speed, Raikage and the instantaneous teleportation speedster of Minato, Naruto's "chakra boost" speed excuse is just plain boring to me -_-
Since when was chakra reserves the only difference between the beasts? From what I understood, throughout the whole series, the more tails they had, the more power they had.
You seem to be right about Naruto's focus, but I still don't see how he had to deflect that first attack at all when he could have just zipped away, or how he couldn't have used a claw to defend himself or even absorb some of the attack he was given after the fact. Naruto in this chapter is just plain idiotically inefficient, and it hurts even more after all the build up and framing Kishi was giving NT Mode throughout the war. The only thing NT Mode has been good for this entire battle is giving Naruto the (plot) armor he needs to survive getting the shit beaten out of him.
Well you know what I mean, Higher Chakra Reserve = Higher Potential of Power. Indeed, more tails = more power but ask yourself Jag, what does that mean? If you ask me, in the event that Naruto goes full Kyuubi and is able to fight side by side with a beast Hachibi, the advantage they will have is being the strongest of the bunch, in terms of Chakra, but at the end of the day they are just beast and what makes them different is their separate power levels and their special abilities. 2 vs 6 would still be bad for them, regardless of them being the 2 strongest, and a cut and dry fight based off of that is not the way we should expect this fight to be played out.
And I agree with you as well. The special thing about the NT mode Kishi likes to show, besides his "speed", is really his hands and his maneuverability with them. If the Raikage was in Naruto's position, as he was in this chapter, I personally believe we would've dodged though attacks, why? Cause speed is the Raikage's thing, NOT Naruto's.
???? You talk about the differences in the powers of the beasts as if they're so much more shallow than the differences between normal ninjas, yet acknowledge that they have their own special powers?
"...they are just beast and what makes them different is their separate power levels and their special abilities." It sounded to me like you were saying that because they were just beasts, they can really only recklessly claw one another back and forth - like beasts - yet in the same line you say that they have special powers, special powers like chakra attacks that chase after you or paralyze you... which goes completely against the previous point. Did I read that wrong?
But, using your view of their amount of chakra as their ultimate battle value, looking at the battle as the chakra sum of 6 beasts against the chakra sum of 2, yeah, they're horribly outmatched. But we already knew that. That was part of the thrill of this battle, seeing how fucked Naruto and Bee seemed and wondering how in the hell they were going to get through it. The problem is that they are way too fucked, more fucked than they should be.
This kind of situation were the audience goes "Holy Shit they are fucked, they are so fucked!" and then the author fucks the audience by showing some ingenius way that the characters get out of their pinch is commonplace in manga, and one of the defining features of Shonen manga. But that's not happening here. No ingeniusness, hell, not even some f-ing common sense on the part of our main character. We expected some creativity on the part of Naruto; instead we saw everyone use him as a punching bag.
Obviously, some maths says:

But Naruto seems absolutely not focused on the battle. No reason apparently, they don't say he's out of stamina, or anything, and it's completely at the opposite of his determination at the beginning of the battle. That just seems so weird and out of what Kishi built until now, dammit.
Or he still feels dizzy after head banging clash against Tobi, maybe? :D
Why Tobi needs to touch Naruto? To absorb his power with Rinnegan path, or for teleportation?
What can Kakashi and Gai possibly do? They're not Kage level, but at least they will be bait for Naruto to strike.
They´re probably there for the strategic aspects (something Naruto has at times, but seems to lack now :D).
Wasn't my intention to contradict myself. In your previous comment you mentioned you though more tails not only equaled more chakra but also "power", so I was trying to pick at them, on a rudimentary level, to decipher what exactly you meant by power.

Kyuubi gotta tag out with Naruto soon!
That would´ve been my bet after seeing Madara mind-fingering Naruto...

I hope the rest of the division is going to back them up soon (and the other division as well - although many many fodders are gonna die xD)
worst thing about this chapter was the revelation that kakashi's unit's battle against the seven swordsmen of the mist wouldnt be shown even after the hype it was given in that one chapter. boo at plot points, i would have gladly skipped the whole kinkaku ginkaku battle to watch kakashi unleash his 1000 jutsus on those swordsmen. and after that battle, how much chakra can he still have?
Any bets on Kakashi and Gai dying or at least gravely injured, and Naruto losing control and letting the Kyuubi do his thing?
