Thread: Naruto Chp 538 Discussion/539 Predictions

What part of this chapter was confusing? Everyone here, except you apparently, understood just about every shallow bit about it and was thus able to criticize it as so.

And there's nothing wrong with wanting more from our manga. Yes, we can all just lay back and enjoy the show, BUT we can enjoy it even more when Kishi does more than just throw shallow entertainment at us. And I don't think we would be here trying to discuss intricacies if shallow entertainment was all we wanted.

You did notice the smiley at the end of my sentence, didn´t you? As Yazen said, I just "sit back and enjoy". I don´t really care anymore about the how´s and why´s and blablabla, I just enjoyed Naruto manhandling (xD) Kyuubi!
And who mentioned anything bout the rhetoric? =D (think this sentence should have been at the beginning :P)

Reread what I wrote Jaggid. All I was saying was you might be confused as to what I was saying. Not the chapter.

What I saw in this chapter was just what Blue said. Naruto manhandled the kyuubi and it was mostly a fanservice chapter. There's no characterization for Naruto or anyone anymore so why bother? I like it when people discuss predictions and everything else. It's just pointless to worry about certain manga's characterization after a while.

Edit: the ONLY thing. And I mean the ONLY thing that my post was intended to point out is that I'm not looking at stuff like that in the manga anymore. It's mostly just a decent weekly read now. Also I wasn't talking about anyone at all.

I mean let's face it. These characters are limited to the mangaka's own personal under achievement. Every time a chapter like this comes out with confusing philosophical speeches and a determination with no real destination, I wonder if that mangaka meant to write something really cool but keeps hitting a block with his character.

You clearly don't even understand what characterization means! At the beginning of that paragraph you talk about how the Kyuubi became Naruto's bitch, and in the very next sentence you say there's no characterization for any of the characters? Hell, forget about basic characterization, this is an entirely new bitch side of the Kyuubi we're seeing here.

I say that development of characters is gone. The only thing the author is really worrying about at this point is story. After you've seen what the main character has basically done and talked about for a year can you say that Kishi is doing a good job at developing his Clark Kent? Naruto is training yeah but so did Goku. That's not the same as developing the character. I reread my post and how is Naruto's speeches anything but confusing. All he ever says is basically the same thing over and over and it's doesn't even mean anything.
You need to lighten up because as I pointed out I'm not reading it for the Pulitzer quality writing. It's all fanservice at this point. So Kishi can have the kyuubi being a bitch right now or Joe Camel cool next week. No big deal

How does understanding that the character is saying the same thing over and over again 'confusing'? That's not confusing, it's predictable and nothing new. As I touched upon already, get your definitions straight.

I agree that Kishi is focusing on plot now, but disagree about no development for Naruto. His ideals are pretty much the same as before, but his attitude towards them has shifted. Before, he was uncertain about saving Sasuke and whether or not he'd be able to do something about it. Now, after facing Sasuke again after the Danzo fight, he's dead certain about his role and has become a lot less gloomy.

You can argue that a mood shift is hardly worth being called 'character development,' and I wouldn't be able to argue against your completely valid opinion. However, the tone of the manga also completely changed into something a lot less brooding to reflect what happened to Naruto. Although that tone was wrongly applied to the Ninja War, it was still a big change for the manga, and thus for Naruto.
