I'm still unhappy of the fact that some pseudo-jinchuuriki with scavenged chakra can be stronger and more threatening than Naruto's ever (consciously) been. I see I wasn't the only one, since Kishimoto's trying hard to justify it in the exposition. But I don't buy it; ingested Kyuubi flesh is ultimately just ingested chakra. Why should it give them the capability to generate that chakra themselves and go Bijuu? Well, at least it's over now.

This chapter was bittersweet for me. I'm really glad there was a lot of various variables in play and the dynamics of these past chapters on a whole but this week's was 75% meh worthy for me. They dispatched of the faux Kyuubi way too easily in my mind for his transformation to cause any significant damage to the army. The way kishi had them outsmart the first brother was pretty good but for the 2nd one, having the rampaging power of the Kyuubi, if he wanted to have Shikamaru play a role he could've at least have him come up with a strategy or something... but then again it was Shikamaru's uber ultra smart dad that came up with the plan, and he thinks smarter and faster than his son. Also, I didn't get why or HOW Shikamaru came back to their aid so fast. Wasn't he supposed to be the de-facto "brain general" for Gaara's division all the way close to the desert about to face off against the 4 revived Kages?

It should have been clear since the Kage Summit arc that distances don't mean much in this manga.

Besides the mystique of ninja travel distances and time I still don't buy the fact that Shikamaru, who was in another division about to face off against 4 Kages, just reappeared to help his teammates in the nick of time. Did HQ asked tell Gaara to send reinforcements? Is Shikamaru now going to run back to his division? (I am/was totally looking forward to Shikamaru making a grand scheme to stop one of those 4 beastly zombie Kages)

@krazy: gaara's troop are being split into two group. half went to the beach, while the other half are retreating. the old rock kage are already with gaara to help out.
i think the three of them gonna fight asuma first, then go back to gaara vs kages battleground to surround them by force.
assuming the defense line on the previous chapter really representating the whole army, these troops are very close to each other (relatively). it's not a small country, but the entire defenses are assemble at a point where it create a bottleneck

Remember the plan in chp 525, Gaara group got split to help Darui and when there finished there both groups will join together, that's why Kitsuchi showed up aswell, his division was to come behind the enemy to help. You see all the divisions being contacted in 525 and 526, so they've been moving in position for a couple chapters now.

I don´t think the battle was too easy... I mean, come on, aside from him looking like the fox and whipping around with his tail, Kinkaku(I hope I got the right one ) didn´t do anything overly dangerous...
If he had spit some chakra balls then yeah, perhaps he would have been more dangerous, but in that state...as the Raikage said, there would be no stopping him if he seriously got started..

Darui´s last sentence was a bit...meh, but he put it right: With so many talented Ninja´s he wouldn´t have had a chance

And now, I wanna see what Gaara´s and the old man are up to =D
