Thread: Tobi = Obito?

I know that that this has been discussed THOUSANDS of times in the past, to the point where it's overrated. However, based on the events and scenes we are shown, the question comes up once again: Could Tobi (Madara) be Obito?

Obviously, Madara is a separate entity that lived his own life at one point. However, it was never fully explained what happened after his body was weakened. Madara was able to live for well over 80 years, but his prestige and strength as one of the founders of the Leaf and his being rival to Hashirama were used to cover this fact. Truth is, Hashirama whom was supposed to have inherited the Sage's "body" and life force, still died at one point. How is it that Madara lived after being damaged so badly, that even Hashirama assumed he died?

One possibility (maybe a stretch) could be that near his death he transferred into a different body, similar to Orochimaru's techniques. With this concept, Madara could keep transferring whenever near death, explaining why Madara could age over 80 years.

But, this theory in itself has many flaws. It might explain why Madara doesn't look like such an old man, but why would Madara choose the body of an extremely damaged Uchiha such as Obito? It explains the hair and the right eye, but it still doesn't explain why Madara would have chosen Obito's body.

That aside, the main fact that stuck out to me was that Kakashi could not use his Mangekyou Sharingan on Madara. Some people may have believed that his mastery of the Sharingan is the explanation, to the point where he may be impervious to it. But how is it that Sasuke's (or rather Itachi's) Sharingan had an effect Madara? Amaterasu clearly damaged him and Madara even admitted that if he had taught Itachi more about the Sharingan, Itachi could have killed him. Meaning that Itachi's Sharingan was still a threat to Madara, while Kakashi's is harmless.

The explanation to this may be that if Madara is using Obito's body and Sharingan, Kakashi's Sharingan (oringinally Obito's) might not work on its original owner.

I know this will probably get me flamed but as far as "tobi" is concerned, there are 4 possibilities who he could be. Please remember that before Killerbee was confirmed to be around 35 years old, most of us probably thought he was in his mid 20's. Anime isn't always accurate in the age to looks conversion.

1. Obito. I know I know, but until something substantial is actually given about his identity, the possiblity is still there. plus, his sharingan's teleportation ability thing is too much like kakashi's to be just coincidence.
2. Shisui. His name has been brought way too much for my liking and he has the things under his eyes like itachi. nothing was confirmed about his death, and Danzo had only 1 of his eyes, so the other is still... up in the air so to speak. could be another reason why he was so pissed when he found that danzo crushed the eye. Kakashi got his mangekyo through unknown means, and Itachi could have too. the least likely possibility next to 4, but still there in my mind. remember, anything is possible in the world of Naruto with the sharingan according to kishi... unfortunately.
3. Madara. the guy could really be immortal and just has a mask/secret identity fetish like kakashi.
4. Someone yet to be mentioned in the story who happens to be an asshole. pretty unlikely, but possible.

i could really be just stoned, but what if its the first hokage? I mean, who really witnessed their battle in the valley of the end? Who else would be able to pull of a Madara copy and know all about the sharingan than his biggest rival? Who else could there be for such a build-up of his face? And think about this, how fitting would it be that the first who went from Good to Bad is doing the same thing to Sasuke? Tobi being Hashirama will introduce more aspects and twists than him being obito. but like i said, it could be just the bc bud talking.

i was wondering about that too, but then kabuto revived nagato and madara still wants his real body. there is that whole talking to the 3rd part though. tobi revealing his face is being hyped up more than pein was, so im hoping that its someone we already know but doesnt expect. and besides, hashirama would be the perfect last opponent for Naruto since he can negate his kyubi chakra with his mekouton jutsu's the way yamato does.

There's no mystery when it comes to this guy. Madara spammed Izanagi and Izanami on Hashirama like hell and could easily slip away unnoticed from him seeing that about 90% of the ninja society are fucktards to genjutsu. As for his body lasting this much? After seeing how long the first hokage's wife lived, why the surprise?

And for the last fucking time! Madara IS Madara! Obito's fucking dead! DEAD! Like the rest of 'em!

i won't so harsh on this topic..there's still theory that Tobi was actually FUSION of many shinobi's bodyparts with Obito head/eye..we're speaking of manga where there are shinobi who can snakey transfer soul (Oro), stock up heart (Kakuzu), cylinder heart in puppet (Sasori), torn a piece but alive (Hidan) and many more weird jutsu..he may not OBITO, but maybe hv OBITO HEAD only..as for why CRUSHED BODY of OBITO to be chosen, I don't hv the answer yet..
