I donīt think that the few times he went into 4tails+ mode hurt him to that extent.

I agree with krazykwasi. I didn't really enjoy the mush here.. and it's not that I'm too insensitive to appreciate it. I did feel a bit for the characters, but overall I still get the feeling that the events are too unrealistic for me to invest in emotionally. The way Minato deals with it all, the way they are both about to die.. and decide on the spot to seal themselves in there.. and the plans they have..It constantly seems like it's an unbelievable explanation and exposition of events written after the fact.

It's clear to me, the only reason why we are seeing Minato and Kushina at all is because fans want to learn more about Naruto's parents, and this is the basis of why Kishi started to make up this whole sealing people's minds inside Naruto business, which is quite an absurd invention really. Why don't more characters do this? It's implausible even for the Naruto world.

I think flashbacks like this should only be done if the writer has really laid out the plan of the story beforehand, because it's rare that a writer is good enough to convincingly write a retrospective story that doesn't seem contrived.

Kishi is able to make great emotional scenes though. Ones that I really liked was Neji's at the end of his battle with one of the Sound ninjas, the one with Haku, and also the very first one with Iruka.

But this time, it feels like its way too orchestrated, and I don't really buy it's legitimacy/sincerity to appreciate it as much. I'm glad this flashback sequence is over.. The only thing I liked about it was seeing some of Minato's moves.

Pretty much. I also didn't care much about when Kushina was telling baby naruto about all the things to do (and hahaha he's the complete opposite). Very ironic Kishi, I liked what you did there, not.

But the bottom line is I hope to move on and I will HOPE TO NINJA GOD that this flashback has an obvious positive impact on Naruto and his training. Hopefully Naruto dedicates himself to training and jutsu etc.
