Well... now that OneManga and probably other known sites are going down, I might drop manga reading completely.

Unless I manage to find a site again.

Try mangastream.com for Naruto. Usually this site give out the latest updates of Naruto earlier than onemanga.

    Don't abandon manga reading...

Quitting isn't an option, since it's impossible. Whats the first section you go to when you enter a bookstore. I thought so.

    +1
I don't visit forums very often. In fact, that's the only one I come to visit regularly.
And without BF's thread, I wouldn't have known the situation was getting messy ^^

I was a little surprised to see that the manga industry was essentially declaring war on scanlators, but now I remember onemanga's been under steadily increasing pressure from the industry in recent years.

There are still a number of options for people reading and downloading manga online(PM me if you want links; I have several), but onemanga was one of the biggest and this is going to serve as an example to the rest; the smaller sites will have it even worse once the publishers turn to them.

But hey, this is the internet, and you can get anything for free if you look hard enough. And for those self-righteously telling people to buy stuff legally,

-Many of us, for various reasons, cannot afford to buy today's overpriced anime and manga legally, especially if it's imported from another country.

    - There are many, many countries where manga and anime are very hard to find. Like mine, where hardly any book or CD shop even knows what I'm talking about when I ask them. The few manga volumes I managed to acquire legally had to be ordered online and imported directly from the US. And by the standards of my country they're not cheap.

-Even if the above two problems did not exist, licenced manga may take months or even years to arrive on the shelves. Many of the people reading scanlations are folk who actually buy the manga when the tankobon comes out; they just read the scans because they can't wait.

-Lastly, there are many good manga series that haven't and maybe never will get licensed by North American and other Western publishers. The only way for non-Japanese readers to enjoy them is through scanlations. Even if Viz opens an online distribution site and I can afford their rates, will I be able to find titles like Nagasarete Airantou, Sekirei and Addicted to Curry? No, because they aren't licensed and may never be.

I'll quit if don't find a good site... but yeah, it's pretty much impossible to not find one.

I made this point in a diff thread but yeah basically what you said and qbesanef showed in that post, most people who WOULD have bought volumes(when they have gained the ablility to do so) or even would have paid onemanga to support the publishers will DEFINATELY not now, they'll just *stop reading* or pirate more.

just a shame that instead of working with the sites and making more potential money, they destroy a good source of potential green...

That's just how it is. THis isn't like music where we can just go to itunes and pay a dollar for a song we want or whatever. It's an industry that doesn't provide a fix. So we have to get it any way we can like the good druggies we are.

Witcher is right on spot of manga being limited to only few audience or people. That will make people stop taking their interest on manga, or have them more pirated.
