I really enjoyed it and all the new yet old faces. but my one major question. why the hell is it saying who is behind the mask? We all know it's Madara. Kushina even just came from saying it eariler in the chapter .

Someone on the onemanga forums said that all the recent exposition with Kushina was happening because Kishimoto needed to give her character importance when earlier she was no more than a companion to Naruto's legendary Hokage dad. I agree, because a lot of it is sounding contrived.

The good: We'll finally know what exactly happened the night of the Kyuubi attack, even if most of it had already been guessed by now. I can tell the next chapter is going to be the best flashback of them all.

    The not-so-good:

    - The introduction of plot elements such as an entire village of seal masters and a aged jinchuuriki that had been around since Hashirama's time till the Sannin's heyday this late is a little off-putting. But stuff like this happens when the mangaka makes his plot up along instead of planning it in advance.

    - Minato's greatness is somewhat diminished by the knowledge that most, if not all, of his amazing sealing techniques came from Kushina. Speaking of which, why exactly is Naruto such a moron if he has two such amazing parents?

    - Once again Kishi's obsession with destiny and his desire to link any major character and plot point with the Uchiha/Senju/Rokudo's sons rears its ugly head. Neji was right after all. Destiny does decide everything. Naruto did not merely inherit the Senju's will; he's actually related to them by blood and is a descendant of the Rokudo's younger son(and probably inherited the son's longevity and 'physical energy' as well; a genetic advantage).

So we can finally dispense with the illusion of hard work and free will playing any major role in this manga anymore. This manga is all about the Rokudo, Senju, Uchiha and their descendants.

Ok... just because both of a kids parents may be doctors that doesn't make their kid predisposed to be a doctor as well. Even Kushina said it herself, she had to teach Minato how to use seal at a top class level. Sealing jutsu is like the nuclear physics *or insert any difficult science* of the ninja world so theres NO WAY IN NINJA HELL that naruto would "inherit" his mother and father's skills or affinity to learn them. Naruto isn't the patient academic type to even learn that kinda stuff (at least when he was a younger child).

That last page has to be the HOLY F**K best page i've seen from Kishi in a while. Madara looks so fricken ill "your young 1 minute old baby" OUCH!! What a BAMF Madara. Is Minato fast enough for that? lol.

O and by the way, welcome back Witcher.

Damn man, I always like it when Kishi stuffs a whole load of revelation into just one chapter. I liked how they explained the swirly symbol on Konoha's ninja gear - the whirlpool village. Though it seems rather odd the way he's just saying 'oh you know up till recently there was this whole entire village that just got wiped out...'

And I'm also confused, when Jiraiya was discussing the Kyuubi attack many chapters back, he was debating on whether or not the Kyuubi materialised by itself or whether it was summoned by Madara. But shouldn't Jiraiya at least have known that Kushina was the host? Even if he wasn't in the village for some time, he should've at least known that and instead be wondering how the Kyuubi broke out rather than if someone summoned it.

@Witcher: Yes you're absolutely right about the whole special lineage thing. But it's a shonen manga, man...how many mangas like that HAVEN'T had a main character with some sort of special link or lineage or something? They always SEEM ordinary at the start, because that's how you introduce them...I'm not saying I like that Naruto's somehow related to the Senju and by extension Rikudo, but I'm not gonna care too much about it.

Especially since the next chapter looks to be absolutely awesome. If we see Madara vs. Minato that will be fantastic. We should, since Minato mentioned fighting him before.

Well now, finally Naruto got someone he really wants to kill. As happen before, extraction of the bijuu from the host will end up with the host die. So it's safe to say that Madara extract nine-tails from Kushina and cost her life. Madara's head is on top of Naruto must kill list.

worst chapter ever IMO....kinda felt like i was watching a daytime soap opera with bad plot and shitty acting... cant believe Kishimoto came up with this. I'd expect this frm Kubo but not Kishi whos a far better writer than this.

Yeah, you can really tell the difference between someone who ACTUALLY plans his stories out WAY into the future (i.e. oda and one piece) and those who just make up shit on the fly (i.e. bleach) kishi does plan some stuff but not nearly as thought out as oda does.

ANOTHER reason that kishi and KT have trouble making good stories is this interview that Oda did, in a way stealthily backhanding those mangakas:

    http://www.thegrandline.com/odaswitchint.htm

    [QUOTE ODA Himself!]
So the dignity you carry as a boy’s comic author Oda-san, is it safe to say that was something you’d already set in stone from when you started One Piece?

Yeah I think so. Because I mean, I approached it thinking that since I’m drawing for a boys’ comic magazine, then it’s my job to make sure they enjoy what they’re reading. When you actually do become a professional you’ll start getting fan letters and other things and you’ll soon find that the overwhelming majority of them are from girls. Boys just aren’t the type to pick up a pen*. (laughs) They don’t have things like stationary or stamps and they don’t think about going through the ‘grueling task’ of writing someone just to say, “That was cool.” Boys are a life form that enjoy something but won’t bother to tell you that they actually do.
    *lit. brush

So I learned that girls will flood you with their opinions and when I took at step back and looked at the world of manga, I realized that there are a lot of people out there that made me think, “This [author] is really just going along with the girls’ opinions.” And ultimately, if you’re considering those opinions as the ‘needs of the customer’ when you write the story, you’re just left with a girl’s manga. (laughs) It’s like, if you do that, you’re only writing to entertain girls, and that’s just wrong.

-And yet boys, who you see as most vital, won’t let you know what they think.

That’s right. And since that’s the case, I knew what I had to do was go back to my own memories, set my sights on the kinds of things I would enjoy if I was still a kid. It’s not like boys leave me without anything though; if your parents send you a Christmas Card* you’d send something back right? (laughs) So when they do send letters they’re exactly the kind of responses you’d expect from boys like, “I like the fights.”, or, “I like this attack.”, and as I read through them I think, “Ah, I thought they’d like that.”. The boys’ reactions are what I take very seriously, but I get a kick out of what the girls have to say too. You can almost hear their high-pitched screams of excitement through the letter. But if I let those opinions sway me then it’s more than just losing my place in a boy’s comic magazine, there’d be no value in my existence as a boy’s comic author.

I think kwasi explained that one. . .also a lot of it is from Kishi himself (take a look at Odas interview I just posted)

Yeah that was pretty gay, we could have done without the 8 panels of sasukes mom and narutos mom having a gossip moment, there's really no place for them to be all fucking chummy about it, ESPECIALLY when the uchiha clan was pretty much not so popular at this point. . .but again its kishis fault for listening to the fangirls who want more sasuke rather then actually writing his story the way he fucking wants to (again READ that interview I posted if you haven't already ffs!)

well of course thats in all shounen even one piece to an extent but its not lame and there wasn't a big speech by luffy over hard work etc etc etc so I guess its passable there. but then again as even you said, this is what you get when the mangaka doesn't plan out his shit far ahead enough, you get asspulls like there were in this chapter.

I REALLY was NOT happy with that sasuke/narutos mother meeting BS NOT AT ALL
