About LinkBacksThey would be fools not to check everybody that passes through for genjutsu. If that's the case than Kishi lost a whole bunch of credibility points. I'm not feeling like that's the case though

Hmm, I see alot of nice theories from everyone. But what were to happen if its not Genjitsu and maybe a different type of Ninjitsu? like perhaps a body switching jitsu like the Ino clan has or maybe a white Zetsu using his body copying abilities again? Oh ya, I realized there are tons of Kabuto Forbidden Summonings running around in which we barely realized what they are capable of doing yet.

Nagato/Pain showed us already a cloning jutsu almost perfect, but with the user's chakra and control.
The fact is:
Nagato and Itachi just talked about their Genjutsu eye techniques 5 pages back.
Even if it's not the actual explanation, it's a credible one.
The guy at the entrance is a fodder nin, he's not gonna find a S class jutsu like that, among all the possibilities
---> Kabuto
---> Madara
---> Nagato and Itachi (manipulated by Kabuto of course)
---> any edo Tenseid Jinchuu or former Kage

True Yaz, but this instance could warrant such an occurrence because, as Bledge so astutely put it; (1) The guards in question are fodder (and for a high level covert technique such as this one there needs to be an equally skilled shinobi to detect it, such as Ibiki, Inoichi or a talented Uchiha/Hyuuga), and (2) the potential users of the genjutsu/abilities in question i.e. Nagato, Itachi, MADARA or Kabuto, aren't the regular ole run of the mile illusion users. They are all Hokage level geniuses who would know how to get around such pathetic excuses for a check point. You have Kabuto who's been under the tutelage of Orochimaru (and we all know they've been sneaking in an out of Hidden Villages without even their top sensor teams detecting them), then of course you have the doujutsu users like Itachi and Nagato who are freaks in their own right.
And true Decent it doesn't have to be genjutsu it could be anything at this point. Kishi seemed to allude to the fact that it could be though by showing Nagato and Itachi kissing up to each other with talk of their special eyes.....however this curve ball he threw with Neji was flawless so for all we know that talk between Itachi and Nagato could just be a ploy to make us all THINK its a genjutsu when in fact its something much worst!! Like a dream... within a dream, thats also withing that dream. Kishi is trying to pull a genjutsu Inception on us!!

All joking aside, one of the things that came to mind is that Neji is dead (at least mentally[the collapse]) and his brain-dead body is being used. Sort of like Kabuto's temporary reanimation.....thing. Of course I'm probably wrong.

Kishi "trying to make us all THINK its a genjutsu" .
It's the end of the manga, the all-out war, all the trump cards of everyone are going to be used.
Better for Kishi to surprise us until the final showdown.
On another note, and my two cents prediction or point of view.
Naruto is so confident about stopping the war and erasing the induced hate. He can't do it. Non, he can't do it all alone.
He's gonna be the second trigger, the messiah.
The first trigger has already been "pulled", every shinobi is fighting for the same goal and under the same banner.
Madara back then was supposed to have alternative plans in addition to the moon eye plan. Just before Sasuke met Killerbee. Or my memory is going down hill?
Now he seems so rushed about his plan, it's weird.

If he feels rushed, it's because of Nagato's death.
Someone on another forum brought up the idea that Neji was hit by a lunar illusion technique that got him because of his 360 vision. These two pages support the theory:

Note how the moon is given an entire panel all to itself in between Nagato and Itachi's talk, and note how the juxtaposition of their eyes works with the moon.

^ Its even funnier since in the first moon shot reminds me of Madara's mask with his 2 eyes.

That was Tsunade's purpose too. Did you see her fight anybody during nagato's invasion? So it's like master, like student.
