I always found all the complaining about the individual chapters strange. Don't get me wrong, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. But it seems people more often judge the manga on a chapter by chapter basis, like books in a series, rather than parts of one continuous whole.
I got into Naruto Spring 2005. I downloaded and read every scanlated chapter available over Spring Break. I was hooked immediately. One of the most impressive things to me about the manga, aside from the characters and fight scenes, was the pacing. I read years worth of manga in essentially one sitting. And when you do that, the story flows extremely well. Even when I caught up to the manga, I continued to think of it as parts of a story (excruciatingly) slowly being revealed to me. And looking back over the past few years' worth of Naruto, I can tell that if I were to read it all in one go from the beginning, I'd probably be even more impressed. It's why I wasn't surprised when the recent "resurgence" in the manga's excitement happened. I could just tell that the pacing was leading to something great.
The chapter by chapter thing's just the impression I get every week.
I guess I just can't understand your view. You didn't find the Jiraiya fight awesome? Or the Hachibi fight? Or the Naruto/Pain fight? I just don't get that.
Naruto is a really shitty ninja manga but a decent super powered tournament style shounen manga, well at least that's what it was when I stopped reading, I dont know what it is now haven't seen a new chapter in years.
I think the manga just hasn't become what you thought it would be at the beginning, but you've already invested so much time in it you can't bring yourself to just drop it.
"Grapes and grapes!"
i'm old but i still am crazy over naruto..
being old doesn't mean we have to let go things we like the most.
just be honest with yourself....![]()
@ 999Ghosts...
yeeaah... tenken did bring me out of my hiding... i usually just reading the manga and the posts.... but this one kinda itchy to being ignored....
@ tenken ... how old are you anyway?? is it even relevant to how old you are and why you dont like naruto anymore? no hard feelings....just
i totally agree with R3dKnight. it's been ten years, and hell yeah it's quite a long time for readers or even Kishi-sama himself to change (maybe lose interest like you "tenken666") ...
there are so many reasons beside it, also...like you lose interest when one or some of your fav char is killed, or you just got bored with the plot, or you're just not seeing it as a whole series (just chapter by chapter) like Nevermore135 said, etc etc....
I must give credits and applauses for Kishi for doing it for ten years and not f**king ruining it a lot (pardon for the language) .... yeaah, maybe lil bit here and there, but it's a story, what did u expect??? nothing's perfect....
I my self??? enjoy reading it for about 5 years..... most of the fights kick ass...
@ivanov .... 2 and a half years huh??? wow.... i didn't realise it![]()
I'm 22, started reading at 17 I think. Reading everyone's posts really has made me understand a lot about how I think about this series. I do want to know how the ride ends, although its going to be an uncomfortable one.
