That was some speach and a good one at that, but he fu*ked up when he said "We are just ordinary people" does the so called god see himself as nothing but a human now, does he now doubt himself a little about succeeding in his plan. He also messed up when he said "short periods of peace", if you see yourself as a god and your goal is to make peace why would you only want it to be short, it seems the god is starting to see himself as a human again and realizing that nothing can last forever.

A friend and I had this exact same discussion back when we found out about the Pein and Madara situation...

He explained that much very well. He said, just as anyone else, he's able to feel pain. Also, I do not think he's using the word "God" in the conventional sense. I think, when he calls himself God, he's saying that in terms of power and understanding of several things, but he's still human. Basically, he'd be a human far above humans, but a human nonetheless.

Anyway, I liked this chapter. I'm hoping for Naruto to remain pondering about this for a while, and not to give a generic shōnenish reply on the next chapter, but I guess that's what will happen.

I bunked college today. Not proud of it, but I had a reason and because of it I get to post right after the thread started as a side benefit.

The chapter was a nice one. Pain's motivations are understandable, but still twisted.(A short period of peace between even more devastating wars? What's the point in that?) He's more similar to Sasuke than Naruto in how he thinks.

But I notice he seems to think he's the one in charge of Akatsuki. He and Madara seem to have very different ideas about what they're going to do with the Bijuu. It's likely that Madara intends to betray him somewhere down the line.

^ Madara think it's his akatsuki so yea, that eems like it could happen.

Pain's logic makes a lot of sense, but as Dante said, Naruto will probably ignore all reasoning and declare once again that he doesn't know how, but he'll find a way, that's his way of the ninja, yadda yadda.

Absolutely agree.

This was not how I imagined Nagato to look like. You can definitely see that he's in pain. :P

I said that a while back. There gonna end up clashing about something down the line.

The 1st Hokage divided the Bijuu's among the other countries and brought back the balance of power, during the Ninja Wars, people saw there power and wanted to use them as weapons, because they couldn't control them they put them in people (Jinchuuriki). Now Nagato wants to do the same thing but use all of them at once to make a bigger weapon, all he's gonna do is make more wars and it's gonna be the same thing all over again, but hey "an eye for an eye" as some people say, me on the other hand would say "those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it."
