[Opinionated Discussion] Do you think that Naruto might end soon?

I haven't seen much along the lines of decent discussion in a while here so I thought I would post a thread to see what people's opinions are.

For those of you who don't know, Naruto started in November of 1999. This means that this upcoming November will be the ten year anniversary of the manga. From this Week we have approximately 42 weeks left until the end of November. (I didn't actually count, but I figure 5 weeks in January already past and 5 in December that won't be included subtracted from 52 gives 42). Tacked on to last Weeks chapter, that would bring us to Chapter 475 (a nice round number for the most part). I think if he was considering ending the series, he would stop here rather than doing another 25 just to make it an even 500 because that would mean an additional half year. On top of that, it is pretty clear to me that the lose ends have begun to be tied up. I realize that there are some things that there is just no way he could tie up in that time. That is why i believe that Kishimoto may be interested in returning to SJ and doing a few short stints like Kakashi Gaiden. Maybe he would even do a spin off. Then again maybe he will be much more serious about retiring, it cannot be denied that he will be living nicely for a long time to come from all the royalties he is accumulating.

Anyways, I may come back to make a few points later, but the purpose is to bring around some discussion on a worthwhile topic since we are all fans of the manga.

Edit: I thought I would also point out that most of us have been happier with the manga more recently, maybe that is because Kishimoto fully has a plan and wants to go out with a bang like his brother. (For those who don't know what I mean, Go read 666satan. Great series, especially if you like Naruto.)

666 Satan had a lame ass ending. It was a text book JRPG ending. I for one think Naruto will end in 1 year. there still a lot of story lines to be rapped up. Also, Naruto is not the ultimate badass yet.

Because if Naruto ended i wouldn't have anything to look forward to on thursdays.

Yeah, I don't see reason why the series can't end on the conclusion of this arc, or even this battle.

No, I do not think so. There are still many things yet to be resolved and explained and etc…I think it will end in 2010 though.

There's alot more to be covered before the Manga ends I think its gonna go past 500 chapters.
666 Satan was a good Manga but I hope Naruto ends a bit better then that.

Too soon to tell. I'd say at least another 2 years.

666 ended early because Jump either pressured it to end or because Jump cancelled on the other Kishi. I remember because I was following the manga when it happened. I'd be damn surprised if one of Jump's toppers faced such pressure. In fact, I think it's more likely Kishi would be responsible for a quick ending than Jump (he's hinted at that wish in many of his interviews).

I hate to bring up an old thread that never really went anywhere but I figured it was better than starting a new one.

I think that Naruto is looking to end a lot sooner than i even thought it would based on recent chapters and what spoilers we have so far. It looks like Naruto is getting even closer to fully releasing the Kyubi, which seems really similar to the final chapters of 666 Satan. Plus we have a ton of casualties and now Naruto will know who his father is. There are few left in Akatsuki, most of Pein's current bodies have been wiped out, and there is a group of Konoha ninja who are searching for the main body. I know that there is still the Kabutomaru. Sasuke, and madara to consider but at this rate I think the entire series could end by the end of the year. Maybe there will be a spinoff series, since the entire series is about new generations proceeding the last or maybe a couple Gaidens with a lot of depth.

No spinoff series more Gaidens may happen but no spinoff.

Kishi definitely seems to be eager to wrap up the manga soon. The second-most powerful villain is already on the verge of being defeated, so there can't be musch left, can there? Kishi once said he didn't want Naruto to run as long as One Piece(which, at the time, was around 500 chapters), so I can't see the manga continuing beyond, say, 70-80 chapters at most.

Which is too bad. If Kishi WANTED to stretch out this series he could keep it running for another 5-6 years. My ideas:

1)Have some big confrontation that's ultimately inconclusive between Naruto and, say, Sasuke and break it off with a second timeskip.

2)At the end of the timeskip have all the characters aged to adulthood so that the series can have a slightly more mature tone for Part 3.

3)Have it set on a much larger scale and focused on the new Ninja Wars, with the villains now being Madara and the other powerful ppl pulling the strings(just as Part 2 went on a larger scale from Orochimaru to the Akatsuki).
