Sorry, maybe my question was too vague.

My question is asked specifically about the village itself.

It took them quite a while to recover from Orochi's attack with the snakes and they were always aware of their power status in the eyes of other villages. Now Pain shows up and single handedly smacks their top ninja's around.

All in all, it dont look for them from a power perspective. Pain may leave if he does'nt find naruto or whatever they are looking for but the damage done to Konoha's reputation will be even much bigger.

This is where Danzo will gain power from.

I dont think so.

Tsunade is not done yet. But she will have to sacrifice herself for the village, meaning the end of the sannins. (its just to clear to see)

Its very likely that Tsunade goes fullout to destroy Danzos plans... and Naruto coming back to defeating Pain.
Making him the next Hokage.

After that Sasuke is going to face Naruto as Hokage and loose... its a repeat of history (Madara vs. Shodaime -> Sasuke vs. Rokudaime).
And at some point will Madara be the main villain. Maybe in between the Naruto/Sasuke fight they clear their battle and face Madara together.

Whatever happens I don't want Danzou to succeed in becoming Hokage. He would ruin what the Hokage stands for (when Naruto will become Hokage we will have all these great people who had the title before him and Danzou, that's not good).
And I don't want to see his ugly old face on the mountain.

I hope someone stops him and he'll be humiliated.

Danzo's going to make his power grab soon. I think he's going to hold the title of Hokage very briefly after this Pain business gets done with because Tsunade and people on her side won't be fit to fight off the coup attempt.

About Pain though, I think he's going to lose at least 4 of his bodies. Kakashi took out one, I can see Gai taking out another, if Naruto gets back I can see him taking out one, Tsunade takes out one more.

when the times comes for Danzou to make his moves.
by that Time Naruto will challenge him for the seat of Hokage.

Like i dont even understand how he would even be able to be a hokage? Like hes missing and arm which nullifies him from being able to do any ninjutsu and has a missing eye. not that ninjas or any1 with 1 eye cant kick ass but come on. He cant "sacrifice" himself for the village by protecting it with his life cuz tht would end in a second. What is he gonna be the kind of ruler that just controls? I cant see such a boring thing happening at all. or i can be completely wrong and hes been developing some crazy jutsu that doesnt need seals of anykind but yea.

If Kakashi does die, then the villagers may just believe him.

So Konoha has been blown to bits, and we dont know what the death toll is. SOmeone mentiopned in the chapter thread that Pein's village is now the strongest (The Rain Village?) and that other villages would swoop in to finish of Konoha. (I dont think Danzo would allow that)

But, the damage has been done, would rebuilding the town even be worthwhile?

After this last chapter the characters confirm that there's pretty much nothing left. It's gonna be pointless rebuilding there in any case, unless they fill up those craters with water and make it like a resort place with lakes and cabins.
