Obviously not but he had no choice but to do so to avoid war. No it was as of right now just some girl that he was involved with.

He killed his mother and his family because he had no choice but to do so.

However if this girl was not an Uchiha then there was no reason for him to kill her. I am implying that there was an incestuous [no idea if this is actually a word >_>] relationship going on here.

It's not too farfetched that clans would prefer that family be married to relatives to keep the bloodline pure. I don't see what the problem is. Itachi's girlfriend could be from a branch family.

I know that. It's not uncommon at all. I've always thought and I think it's been confirmed that the Malfoy family in Harry Potter do this as well in order to preserve their pure blood.

I'm not saying it's unlikely or strange I'm just saying it because a lot of people may have missed it.

I would really like to know who his lover was.

And if Madara is to be believed it looks like Itachi had some disease which makes what happened in the fight make some sense.

Great chapter. If Sasuke really wants to kill Danzou and the elders (or at least talk to them to get their perspective of the story), wouldn't the best way to get close to them be to return to the village? Whether that happens or not, I look forward to his next encounter with Naruto.

This chapter was decent but I had a number of issues with it. Firstly, the idea of Itachi dying by an illness is far too similar to what happened with Kimimaro. It seems very much like an uninspired death and, to me, comes off as a very primitive concept.

Secondly, the issue of Itachi having a lover, not only was Itachi only 13 at the time but he had been planing to destroy the clan from the time he was 11 (that is when he join Akatsuki and he joined after enlisting Madara for help). Since I really don't see how he could have had a girlfriend at the age of 11 why would he take one on when he knew she was going to be killed down the road? Not to mention, Itachi's father tells Sasuke that Itachi prefers to keep to himself and doesn't commonly socialize with others, if he had a lover at 13 that statement would seem fairly odd. Also, Itachi's life was incredibly demanding, he didn't have time for his own brother, who he apparently valued above all others. A lover simply wouldn't fit into his life at that time, unless it was some girl he was only drilling to take out the stress at night. Such a thing would hardly be in keeping with his apparent behaviors.

This chapter revealed very little new information besides those two points and nearly all of the art was straight from past chapters. I really wanted to see more of what actually happened during the Uchiha massacre and more interactions between Itachi and Madara. Overall I felt the chapter was a disappointment, though it did at least explain Itachi lack luster performance in his battle with Sasuke and I liked how it concluded with what appeared to be a brief jump in time.

It wasn't a lover. It was a girlfriend. Itachi was way too young to be having a lover. And you can't just psychoanalyze him out of that and claim that as proof of him not having a girlfriend. At that age it could have been a close friendship with a girl he grew up with, nothing more.

Onthe contrary of artifice, I did like this chapter, my god, how bad is that Itachi has come to be now my favorite Naruto Character (where Konohamaru once stood, that Sexy no Jutsu made him earn that post)

I mean, man, I hadn't seen a character with such a backstory in a whilem I was smelling he would had a pretty fat role on the story in the end, but man, this surely surpassed my expectations.

So, Itachi released Sasuke from Orochimaru, he is death for good (Oro I mean), this means that He no more has the ability to transform, which was the only thing take made him to be on par to Naruto's beast form???

He also made him gain new powerfull sharingan jutsus, he armed him pretty good, and passed on him his mission. All in so little time???

Now, we do learn he was a possible source of info for Jiraiya, as he was a spy on akatsuki

Man, naruto is pumping me even more!!! Keep em coming this great chapters!!!!!

PS: For the lover/girlfriend part, hey, don't give it much think, they will anounce sooner or later about her, as they did with naruto's mother
