Also, it seems itachi was ordered by the leaf village to kill the uchiha clan.

I'm suddenly very much in love with Naruto's storyline again. I felt a little bit of Basilisk when I read this chapter.

Now sasuke is going to hate the leaf village and join akatsuki, therefore continuing with the plotline of naruto chasing sasuke. I really hope pein kills madara or sasuke, i don't care which one.

I'll admit i'm looking foward to this flashback but i can't help but look ahead to what consequences the telling of this story is going to have on sasuke. It makes me sad. Naruto chasing after this asshole for another three years is going to kill me.

On a side note...Anyone feel a possible connection between Naruto and the Senju Clan? Its far fetched, considering Tsunade said nothing, but it would fit...necklace, Kyuubi, and climactic showdown with Sasuke at the Valley of the End?

In all cases, I'm really psyked about the story now.

absolutely not, his only connection is through the Kyuubi.

I feel like this chapter was near-pointless, like 397. It was a couple of sentences worth of content stretched into 20 pages. Bleh.

I want to see where this goes quite a bit, even if I think Sasuke is the least interesting character ever. I just wish Kishimoto would stop dragging his damn feet about it and start this rolling.

i liked this chapter, it made itachi not as evil but didnt take away his kick-arseness by saying he didnt kill them

god, if sasuke turns against the leaf village because of this, it will be so lame...i mean itachi sacrificed everything for the village just for sasuke to have a vandetta against it?...ghey.


i hope sasuke can look at the big picture that was involved (if there was a good reason for it )

While this chapter still offered less information than I hoped for, I must say that I was totally satisfied by what it did offer. I have been waiting for this story to be told for a long time and by the looks of things it might just live up to my expectations. Here is too hoping.

I was very pleased when Madara said that Itachi did in fact kill the clan and even more pleased that it was on orders from Konoha. Not only does it make Itachi's decision more believable and tragic, it also adds convolution to Konoha. It is easy to forget but Konoha is a ninja village in the business of warfare, it's past is rooted in battle and in that type of environment difficult decisions come about as a necessity. Up until now, the Leaf has been regarded fairly idealistically, while the other villages have been shown to have their dark sides, Konoha has been consistently been portrayed as a force of good, at least generally. There have been slight indications of the village making dark choices in the past, such what happened with Neji's father, but nothing on a large scale. This could bring a whole new level of realism and depth to the story that I honestly felt would never happen.

Did anyone else think that the art was extra bad? Sasuke looked goofy the whole chapter.
