Thread: Does Narutos dream of becoming Hokage seem realistic anymore

All throughout the manga i've seen characters of impressive ability. Neiji with his genius and nearly impenetrable defense, Rock lee with his overwhelming strength and speed and Shikamaru's brilliant stratagems. Sauskes most recent battle with his brother Itachi was very impressive even if your not fond of his character. Each and every one of these guys has impressed us from one time to another. Some of the best fights in the series were when these guys fought the sound ninja.Naruto was present during all of these battles and was the least impressive out of all of them. Dont get me wrong, i like naruto, i like that he's the underdog and that he's supposed to prove everyone wrong.but how long are we supposed to wait?

Hokage's usually show promise at a young age. Jiraiya,Orochimaru and Tsunade were'nt much older than Naruto before they became legendary. Rocky was the was the ultimate underdog movie and they did'nt make us wait years for to see him become the best.My point is the name of the book is Naruto. I should'nt be more impressed with secondary characters than the main character himself. I'm sorry Kishimoto, if you want Naruto to be more respected have him get his act together and start showing people why he deserves to be hokage, simply saying you're going to be hokage dosent mean you should be. Because shadow clones and rasengan aren't going to cut it any more. And please no more Kyuubi powerups during fight's. I'd rather Naruto walk the long road to hokage without depending on something with nearly unlimited chakra.I want him to succeed,but he is surrounded by people who do alot more with alot less. It would show people that hes more than just a container.

Are you reading the same manga as I am? The fact that Naruto lacks the specialization or genius that the others have and still manages to win is more impressive than when one of the former groups wins. Naruto has simple tools, but he is a master at enduring and applying his tools to get the job done. He shows cleverness and heart whenever he fights. His fights may not be as flashy in the beginning, but he always ends his matches with heavy emotions.
Also, the reason Naruto is less flashy is because he has an endurance-based style, which is perfect for him. Unlike most of the others in the series, who tend to fight in high pace at the beginning of the fight and drain their chakra in an instant *ahem Sasuke*, Naruto uses his enhanced endurance to observe the enemy and formulate plans. If you compare Naruto's style to swimming, he would be the distance swimmer while most of the other's we've seen are sprinters.

The only hokages who grew up in the village were Sarutobi and Minato. Considering we only know this is true of Sarutobi and that Jiraiya hinted Minato was a hard worker like Naruto, I call bs on your claim about hokages.As for the sannins, no, they became legendary in their mid-twenties when they were defeated by Hanzou.

Hahaha, really? I agree that he will need upgrades (following typical shonen trends), but what kind is still suspect. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Naruto with a new form of bunshin no jutsu or more variants of rasengan or wind jutsu. Remember, versatility of jutsu can overcome jutsu diversity.

How so? Naruto is the orphan who never knew his parents, had no family to educate him in jutsu or conduct, and is branded by the Kyuubi, a monster that no one properly explained or understood how to control. Jiraiya never explained to Naruto about his seal because he himself didn't understand it too well (I mean, he discovered the seal was weakening). The entire village who knows him by default hates him and any people who respect him do so because he has made a direct impression on them.

Naruto is the definition of a self-made person from birth while most of the others his age have the security and provisions of families. And even among fellow orphans, he is worse off. Sasuke at least has the culture, some history, and basic jutsu of his clan to serve him.

Everything Naruto has now is a result of his training or his charisma (like winning over Jiraiya and Tsunade), and the kyuubi can't really be called an advantage because it is a double-edged sword to his fighting and his body and is disadvantageous overall.

Well.. I think it's either he eventually becomes hokage or he dies trying.
Everyone that knows him believes he can do it.. including the current hokage. Because he'll do whatever it takes to protect the village.
And you can't really blame him for using techniques that work, every ninja has a style that works for them. Naruto's really strong, you know, even if he always relies on shadow clones... with his stamina it's the most effective way to fight.
Plus if he doesn't eventually become hokage there will be a whole lot of dissapointed fans.. unless Kishimoto decides to do something more creative that's just too spectacular to be dissapointing... or something.
You should have more faith in Naruto's abilities.. I think him becoming hokage is very realistic. =) (if only because things tend to follow the trend of everything working out for the main character.)

O yeah, I forgot to answer the thread title I don't think that aiming to become hokage is a realistic dream in the first place, but I think Naruto's optimism and determination will be strong enough factors to push him at least close to his goal .

i dont really think that naruto is going to become hokage. i strongly feel that he's going to die at some point either the end or some other point and he's either gonna come back to life, or they're gonna put his face up on the hokage mountain and honor him as if he were a hokage. but hey he might become the hokage and he might not die. i dont think it's unrealistic, he might pull it off somewhere down the road

How strongly do you feel this? I'm just curious.. it's not every author that just kills off the main character. It's possible, with this being about ninjas that risk there lives every day and all.. it doesn't seem very likely, though..

that would be weird.. why would they do that? There have been plenty of ninjas that give their lives for the village.. I think the hokage mountain is reserved for people who were actually hokage.

about killing the main character, just think of spike spiegel. but thats just a feelin i got awhile back. and the reason i say that they'd probably put his face up on the mountain is because he dies killin some serious monster or some shit. but ur right, alot of people have already died especially during the fight against the kyuubi. who knows, i just wont be too shocked if they kill him

I think Naruto's gonna make it, He might not be a genius like Neji/Sasuke, but he's a hard worker and have improved so much during the last couple of years. I mean, a total looser that have failer several times, to being so strong that he could take out a member of the Akatsuki. Kakashi even said he wasn't the same guy as they once knew.. Like Ura said, Naruto's optimism and determination will be strong enough for him to cvome close, or actually making it.
Its realistic enough...Espacially becaise he doesn't have any Genkai-Kekkai, even though that isn't a factor to who becomes hokage, it would ruin the whole, hard work, theme this manga got goin he like, have some super bloodline limit that would allow him to kickass..
As for him dying at some point? Hm, this isn't that type of manga to let that happen, but it would surely be interesting to see why/how etc.

he'll make it, he has all the makings for a guy who's going to go against all odds and win when everyone thinks he's going to lose....

^I've seen it before too, in one of the tank scanlations as an add-on. But I hope that's not how it ends, even if it has better drawing -_-
