Thread: Itachi's true self?

While i was reading this weeks chapter i was a little taken back. During the flashback i knew as soon as he said madara took his brothers eyes that he was going to try to take sasuke's, but itachi completely losing his composure,with his hands and body shaking, and yelling with that crooked grin on his face was a little unexpected. If you think about it this is the first time weve ever seen itachi show any hint of emotion. Personally ive never liked itachi, ive always respected and acknowledged his strength, but that aside i still want him to die a horrible death and this just makes him a complete waste in my eyes. My opinion of him has greatly dropped.

In all honesty after he went on about all of that it just sounds like he wasnt strong enough himself to cut the ties of his clans past and destiny, but im pretty sure sasuke's kusanagi will cut a path to the future. All that aside long live the uchiha clan.

Sasuke's Kusanagi isn't the same legendary Kusanagi sword of myths that Orochimaru had. Yes, long live the Uchiha clan when its only 1 member left after all this is done. Itachi had it bottled up in him this information for like for ages before Sasuke was able to come for him, of course he would show emotional stress. If i was the mangaka i would kill Sasuke off with Itachi just for the sake of it. That should evolve Naruto's character even more than just the death of the toad sannin, but sadly i'm not and i am pretty sure Itachi is the only one that will die seeing as Sasuke is Kishimoto's fravourite character

I think people are over blowing Itachi's little outrage, just because he is displaying a more extreme emotion for the first time doesn't make him a lunatic. I would suggest going back and looking at past images of Sasuke's outbursts and they are equally expressive yet people don't complain or say that he has lost his mind or say it makes him a waste. When Sasuke does it people just accept it as a normal human response to extreme emotions. This was kinda sudden for Itachi and I felt it seemed a little over the top but all in all this doesn't really change a thing. By the end of the chapter Itachi was totally calm again, he was just revealing something very intense and I think Kishimoto was trying to express that in a big way.

This is not a sudden outburst of Itachi. The Itachi on the outside always kept his composure, even now.
What Sasuke saw, was a genjutsu...the Itachi of the inside. The true Itachi he has always been.
So what I mean, is that Itachi's emotions were boiling inside of him all the time, only he kept them sealed inside.
That wasn't a sudden outburst, it was the TRUE Itachi.

pft...I'll be disappointed if Itachi doesn't take out Sasuke's eyes...but that just won't happen, too many Sasuke-chan fans out there for the mangaka to do that :/

I think that what he meant by his true self had nothing to do with the "outburst". It was refering to the fact that he was never the kind, loving brother that Sasuke hoped he was. He was ALWAYS planning this. He didn't change to who he is now. He was ALWAYS a cold calculating killer.

The outburst was just because after all the years of preperation, he is finally going to accomplish his dream.

Excitment. Power. Immortality. Itachi is a sick phycopath that is on the verge of his aquiring his dream. And he will do anything to achieve it. So what do you think will happen when Itachi lose? Dying?

heh...when that happens, all i see is a shell of a hollow man laughing for more power.

Im agreeing with oldmagic. All im saying is itachi is a psychopathic douchebag, and i hope he gets his heart ripped out. I kindof hope its by somebody other than sasuke because that wont get rid of the hate and afterwards nothing will be left. Somehow he has to surpass his hate, i think when he does that he'll shed his snakes skin and soar through the skies like the hawk that he is.

why does itachi's outburst attract so much attention?

Im simply saying that its odd to see him like that, and since ive never really liked him in the first place i think even less of him now.
