Thread: Sasuke and Naruto's guardians?

i was just thinking about how naruto was an orphan, but sasuke was too (at a later age, though). naruto lives on his own, but nothing is really said about sasuke's home life. he's obviously much more highly regarded than naruto. who took care of naruto when he was a baby? who took in sasuke? any ideas?

I think this is a pretty good question.

I think we already know Sasuke's case. He was raised by his family until the Uchiha massacre, and then lived on his own after that (age 8 onwards). What we don't know is how he was financially provided for until he became a ninja. I suspect Konoha has some sort of system in place to provide for young orphans living alone, since there were a lot of them (Orochimaru was one too, Jiraiya may have been one).

Naruto must have had a guardian when he was a kid though. [speculation]I think Sandaime may have taken him in as a baby and left Naruto to live by himself at the earliest possible age and may have possibly enrolled Naruto in the academy early to have them take care of him.[/speculation] Then he must have been provided for financially by Konoha until he became a ninja.

As for this system, I think Konoha provided vouchers for the orphans, because I remember a moment before the timeskip when Naruto had a meal voucher for Ichiraku ramen. However, this might have just been in the anime.

Many other kids' parents died too, like Iruka's, and I'm assuming there were a lot of ophans as a result of the kyuubi battle. They were probably provided for by the city, considering the well being of the ninjas is the hokage's responsibility.

Not to mention the orphaned kids in the ninja wars...

yep. them too. any orphans resulting from the death of ninjas working for konoha should logically become the city's responsibilty.

Wouldn't sasuke have gotten some sort of inheritance from being the only one in his clan left alive? Probably not from the rest of his clan, but any money his parents were saving at least? Unless Itachi looted them and gave it all to kakuzu......

Since Konoha has this policy of "we are a family", I think they have a system to provide the orphans with everything needed.

In Sasukes case I think he was even enhanced with the wealth of his clan.

The point that I dont get is why Naruto was so "poor", since his father must have had also a little wealth... though I dont know I you really get money for being the Hokage.

but, really, for sasuke to live on his own at 8 is hard to swallow. do you know any 8-year-old children that you find capable of being able to manage money they are given to provide themselves with adequate food, lodging, etc?

an orphanage, maybe? but somehow i don't really see that. i spoke to a japanese friend of mine and they said that it wasn't japanese culture to adopt, and that orphans pretty much grew up in orphanages. i find that rather sad... but when i look at anime and manga, i don't ever see anyone orphaned being adopted (unless it's someone else in the immediate family taking care of them).

i dunno.. do you know any 8 year olds that can kill someone with a huge fire-ball? ninjas have to be mature enough to fend for themselves, i guess. even if they are only 8. that's my explanation. >.<

but probably they had someone to look after them, at least until they were old enough.

they probably get like funding from the villages profits then are left to live on their own possibly something like monthly allowance.
