Thread: Shippūden: Latest Anime Episode Discussion [Episode 40+]

I just watched episode 160. My notes:

-Interrogation by reading minds is a time and manpower intensive process that would be pretty impractical in a wartime situation unless the prisoners are few.

-Animal Realm is incredibly patient. She was willing to stand still with her summons for five minutes to give her opponents time to figure out her powers.

-For the first time in this series ANBU are not completely useless. Though their jutsus were somewhat bizarre. Also rather showy considering they're supposed to be Black-ops specialists.

-Ibiki's techniques were nice, but his repetitive lines about pain 'I will share your pain... Through pain we can understand each other... Show me pain...' creeped me out. Is he subscribing to Nagato's philosophy or what?

-Ibiki's badassery was completely ruined when I paused and realised that he had a bird summoned out of ... well, see for yourself. We shouldn't pick on Naruto for swallowing stuff any more rofl.

-Overall some nice filler. And the omake was nice too.

He's an interrogator so more than likely he was trying to psyche his victim out.... if Animal realm was a human rather than a corpse then the outcome would've been different. Hell Jiraiya fot information out of that 1 Rain nin by tickling him and turning his buddy into a frog, lol. Either way I liked Ibiki's arsenal of torture inspired summons.

Yeah yur right. As far as I can remember Anbus are aupposed to be Jonins but they get murdered by the dozen when something happens and you never get to see their famed powers that got them that "jounin level" All the other Konoha jounins can fight at an extremely high level and can hold their own against even class S ninja- So it's good to see Kishi is correcting his mistakes and giving the Anbu some of their prestige back.

Kishi is doing nothing. The anime team is just adding filler fights for minor characters as they usually do. At the current rate of pacing I imagine the Pain arc won't be resolved at least till episode 171.

What is the omake you mentioned witcher? i've checked over a dozen links in various places that has the vid stopping short. could you give a link please?

It's nothing much. Shizune is depressed over a pile of paperwork and decides she'll have to cancel her date. Of course, she has no date(still single at the age of 30!) and is just kidding herself to make her feel a little better. Then she goes through some old ninja files and finds Naruto's face-painted pics that worsens her mood more. Finally the stacks of files fall over and bury her.

It's one thing to watch some black and white pics and imagine the action but completely another to see it animated. I think mangas are fine but there is just one thing that can never be perfectly represented in a manga and its the pacing of the fights. Often times I marvel at how fast or how slow paced an encounter goes compared to how I imagined it in the mangas.

yeah, in a way, it's part of the reason why bleach's anime caught up so quickly to the manga. The last 100 chapters in that manga was pretty much non stop fighting with no plot. Action chapters in manga take up less space in anime episodes because they are so fast unless the animators add more parts to the fights.

The pein arc is progressing nicely! Seeing Konohamaru and Ebisu in action was pretty awesome. Looks like the climax will air next week, so it's safe to assume we'll see the return of the sage within two weeks.

161 was a decent episode, but 2 things about it completely ruined it for me, and it wasn't the editing of konohamaru's preteen porn related daydream
1. In the very beginning, the animators showed misses shot by the pain that was confirmed KILLED in the previous episode. I know it sounds a bit anal, but seriously, it just bugged me after kakashi's epic fight.
2. Ebisu's flashback/speech was changed from what was in the manga. I personally liked the manga version better since it wasnt all crappy motivational talking and instead focused on the changing relationship between Naruto and the entire village. I bet the reason why this happened is because the animators got lazy and didn't want to look for the multiple tapes and people that they would need to do it this way, but still the manga version was much better.

Pros: Ebisu's fighting was good, Konohamaru's fighting was good, and I was laughing my ass off trying to figure out if what was sticking out of everyone's mouths was their tongues or their souls.
