if he really dies there then he won't come back, like all the others in the manga, i. e. zabuza, the first, etc. maybe through summoning^^
but we also dont know if orochimaru is really dead, but we know, that it's narutos (re)turn now!
    looking forward to 383^^

It's not quite a matter of magnitude: his death was just somehow fitting for his slighly (ok, not very slightly) loony character. Jiraiya's - if that's indeed his final death - practically had a "joo feil" written all over it.

I don't think Jiraiya's death was pityfull :/ He fought against Pein! a guy who have 6 bodies, 6 very different fighting styles. Jiraiya transformed himself into a hermit, using very complex jutsus and skills. I can't see why people even discuss his death as, 'not heroic'

And how could anybody have a plan for what he faced? He had no idea that he was goin up against 6 Rinnengan, or multilple persons. He thought Pein was one Guy, and when he found out that it wasn't the case, he still came up with a plan to neutralize two of them, to kill them all in one go.

Anyone suggested that Jiraiya actually transfered his soul (or something like that) to the frog and will live on as a part it?
Might help him peek on girls and teach naruto some more, but not able to fight.
It just doesnt sound right sending more info about Pain through Pa, when he already send one of Pains dead bodies and such.

    ^
the soul transfer thing would be stupid... we already have a bunch of people posessed by tailed beasts, and kabuto possessed by orochimaru. the "inner spirit" thing is way too overplayed already.

it's definitely information. all of the entire last chapter was jiraiya finally figuring out who Pein really is - from this, the mangaka is telling is that Pein's identity is crucial for some reason.

... i can't believe Pein would just let a frog escape from their grasp so easily though.

^ he must've thought that jiraiya was the only real threat...... aside from wanting to only kill him in the first place. Besides we still havent seen Pain's dreaded "Heart of Blades" yet anyway.

You see, I'd agree with you - but if we were talking about the situation 2 or so chapters before; at that point, I was actually looking forward to the fight. It's the last chapter that bugged me. Jiraiya was injured, but he already knew quite a bit about their style, and he would be 1v5. It was then that he ought to have had a plan or at least known enough about their styles not to meet such an end as he did.

i don't get this. even with 2 frogs and everything, jiraya must have known he couldn't win the fight. why the heck did he choose to remain and "defeat" pein? this was a stupid choice, no matter how you put it .
it would have been much better for everyone if he had returned to konoha. the information he had gathered was priceless and would have helped a lot more than his "heroic decision" :P

I doubt that he could escape Pein, there was 6 of them :/
