Zetsu has been a real disappointment so far :P
As such he shall be killed by a 3rd rate character for the poitn of showing their progress^^ (basically I wanna see Hinata fight Zetsu get hurt, naruto kill him and then things get adult^^)

I don't think Zetsu got any real role in Akatsuki besides being a spy. There no proof of him having a major role in the plot, without the obvious of being an soldier/spy. He's probably gonna get some screen time after the Itachi/Jiraiya battle, not to mention the Tobi vs. Kakashi thing now.
