Basically in english Naruto volume 23 has finally been translated and we get to see the lee vs. Kimimaro fight...

as many may know Lee drinks sake and then becomes a drunken master...

Now for the question: While i get that this isn't as serious as the whole one piece anime thing, is there something we can do to prevent something like this happening again, or in another manga?

I mean for god's sake most kids wouldn't know what sake is anyways.

they do censor a lot in the american anime because it tends to be contrivertial over there in some aspects. they even censor neji's original seal on his forhead which is originally a swastika but had the meaning of the buddhist, but because the western world sees it as the connection with the nazis it is censored. it even happened in full metal alchemist when originally greed was chained to a crucifix, but was edited so it was just a stone slab to avoid christianity references to make everyone happy, even if children dont know what it is, they change it to suit the adults that do understand it, but dont watch or read naruto or any other manga at all

i dont like how they make the changes for example the swastika could have explained neji a bit more since when the buddhist swastika faces right it means strength and intelligence but while facing left it means love and mercy and which ever way his faces has nothing to do with the genocide that occured in ww2 but it doesnt look like they will avoid changing it or anything else if they want to make everybody happy, even if the concept is just a miss understanding

I think its bullshit to censor like that. And they can't possibly be doing it to protect the kids, since they all drink and have sex before they turn 16. Just stupid. They think the world is goin to end because the word "sex" or "alkohol" is written in some childrens comic..geez.

same with the german anime dub <.<
they're pretty obsessed with avoiding words that have to do with death - it's only about 'beating' or 'defeating' opponents, nobody is actually 'killed'!

but the most awesome one was sth along the lines of "irukas parents were kidnapped by the fox monster" - KIDNAPPED aww come on!! thats just dumb >.<

it makes me kind of sad though...

censoring can really ruin the moment. in the anime i watched like the first 20 eps on youtube and it was the japanese version, and u fully on saw haku having his neck broken but then i watched it on cartoon network all u heard was a crack and then the shot showed haku and his head had moved, if i hadnt seen the japanese version i probably wouldnt have known wat had happened

i've got a few more^^
they translated
- corpse/dead body as 'located person'
- death by suffocation as 'apnea'
- sasuke doesn't even HATE itachi.. he just 'doesn't like' him <.<
- perverted sennin is pretty much sth like 'odd mountain hermit'
- mangekyo sharingan is literally called the 'kaleidoscope sharingan' (well yeah.. its the meaning behind it... but its sounds just stupid)
- an injured person is also just 'tattered'

dunno they just keep annoying me.. but nothing beats the kidnapping fox monster^^

- sasuke doesn't even HATE itachi.. he just 'doesn't like' him <.<

yeah, so basically sasuke doesn't consider itachi so much of a sympathetical person.hmmmm.....frankly, he doesn't "really enjoy being in his company".
i get it now. it was sooo obvious.the translation made everything clearer now :D
