^ im not Assuming...just saying whats already been said.
Itachi confirmed madara helped him Naruto 385 page 04 | One Manga

Madara confirms what Itachi said -->Naruto 397 page 15 | One Manga + Naruto 397 page 16 | One Manga

and Madara says Konoha(Hokage+Elders) ordered Itachi to do what he did... Naruto 398 page 12 | One Manga

Madara may be Lying, but for now there isnt evidence that he is...

^I wouldn't consider Itachi's own words completely reliable either, but my main source of discomfort in accepting the statements is not the potential dishonesty of the testimonies, but the many holes created that haven't been answered yet as a result of the testimonies. For example, we still don't know how Madara survived the battle he was supposedly defeated at and was able to get in contact with Itachi. Each detail that Tobi has been giving us has lead to more questions than answers, and suggest much more shocking dealing each time. It's just this total sense of unknown and lack of closure in the details that's making me uncomfortable in making any conclusions on how things went down at this point. Maybe in a few chapters, but not now.

Also, back on the dishonesty thing...

Tobi says that Itachi tried to prevent the meeting between him and Sasuke at all costs, but we don't know what Itachi feared in this encounter yet. One possibility this does suggest, though, is that Madara will exploit Sasuke in a way he would have a hard time countering.

And, the 2nd link you listed had an interesting mention by Madara at the bottom right panel- he basically admitted to have been eavesdropping (getting updated by Zetsu) on the battle between Itachi and Sasuke. Such a scenario would be perfect for a person to make up a fake story, considering you know all the given testimonies.

I don't doubt the testimony on the relationship between Madara and Hashirama so far tho, and think that Tobi's description of Sandaime and Co's political practices have been the most honest and realistic so far.
