Did Naruto and Itachi even talk to each other?
We actually learned something about from Jiraiya's conversation with Tsunade at least.

Who knows, maybe, maybe not. But more importantly was that the real naruto? I think it was right?
I'm still trying to figure out the whole point of that scene. There seems to be NO growth on Naruto's part concerning a new usage of the bunshins (this was the same as the kabuto flop and Itachi won't fall for the same attack twice, as he did when he got hit by the Odama. I mean come-on...two bunshins and he seriously expects to subdue someone of that calibre?). The only significant bit of that conversation was the line from Naruto and the grin from Itachi which, imho, is a weak move at any sort of symbolism. However, that wasn't accompanied by any sort of "step-forward" in the plot-direction on Naruto's part.
"What happened Naruto?"
"OMG!! I just saw teh Itachi!"
"And...?"
"Yeah...that's it. I got nuthin."
"Awesome"
Brotherly brawl is a bit too premature though. Despite all this, I think a meeting of the sharingans is the most probable event.
Also...in all fairness, Its due time this series became known as "Sasuke!" (~blue font with red highlights and emo entrepreneurship dotting the credits~)
@omen: doubtful. Then again...this is Naruto...he would do the stupid thing and leave his back-up behind to find Sasuke.

Sure, there are ups and downs in the story, but that's to be accepted with something on it's 40th volume.
at first i thought the shadow was zetsu... now im not so sure... i think the shadow is too short to be zetsu
Despite my jest-intent, I still stand by the point I made. I know what he serves, I'll agree with you there, but there are limits to the capacity of the antagonist and how he shapes the protagonist. I just think that Kishimoto has slipped up on Naruto to the point where drawing any form of comparison between the two becomes more difficult than it should. However, I won't drag this out further than what its at right now so as to not make a vs thread out of this. I still stand by my opinion.

Anyways, I do agree that the long-awaited, and forshadowed since the begining, totally epic brotherly fight between Sasuke and Itachi was done too soon.
Oh, and the way Itachi did the crow thing reminded me of Type-MOON's Tsukihime series.
hi all, sorry to disturb... i saw on the papers yesterday that ODEX has sued some people from Singapore for dl anime using BitTorrent. this mayb old news but a reminder.
geez all this discussion over a stupid shadow.
and he registered just for that....thoughtful fellow.
as for the chapter, why was the real naruto there anyway? i thought he stayed back with the group when the clones went running around through the forest...and why diddnt he listen to what itachi had to say? urgh stupid kid, now we'll probably have to wait like 3 more weeks.
