Thread: How did Kakashi obtain the MS sharingan?

whats hilarious is that after a year it has been revealed there still only two theories and both are craptastically bad.

Kakashi won't kill a friend, it would totally contradict his character. And to base your speculation on what Itachi said is stupid because it already turned out to be a lie and he isn't trustworthy in the first place.

I also believe that achieving MS is a caused by a state of mind. You have to believe you were the cause of your friend's death.

It could be possible that Kakashi had MS all along since the beginning of the series but never intended to use it... until of course the Itachi incident.

^No chance. If Kakashi had MS from the beginning he wouldn't have been pwned by Itachi in the way he was in their first battle.

Well, let's star with the fact that before incident of Itachi and Kisame attack on Konoha there were 3 people knowing about MKSharingan - Itachi, Saskuke and 3rd user (Tobi?).

Kakashi knew too. He knew of the existence, not the condition. Thats why he told Kurenai and Asuma to close their eyes and speculated that the normal sharingan might be able to endure the mangekyo.

there are many possible explanations.
1.)he read whats written under the temple,it has something to do with this and he figured it out.
2.)he feels responsible for the deaths of his friends.
3.)my favorite one-he defied all odds,and,true to his reputation,copied it.
4.)he simply opened gates or ate a pill;and channeled lots of chakra to his eye in an attempt to see better.lost a nickel and found a dollar there.
5.)spinach\ramen
6.)someone told him.some distant relative of some member of the uchiha clan,that itachi missed.

however,
what we can guess is that each MS is unique,or at least every MS is not the same.and also that each MS gives you at least two abilities,one connected to each eye.
hence kakashi has only one.

maybe he assimilated to his mind the pain and the suffering when you kill your best friend

I think the possibility of killing a friend can be safely assumed to be false and hence could be ruled out. If Itachi's explanation of how to achieve Mangekyou Sharingan is true then it definitely doesn't tie in with Obito's death since the time Kakashi gained a Sharingan was when the Sharingan was barely awakened. Kakashi despite not being a Uchia born has managed to train his Sharingan and awakened it to the next step maturity. Kakashi is a genius and his analytical skills are one of the best around. Mix that with his previous experience of being associated with ANBU, I assume he may have researched about Sharingan the only memento his dead friend left him with. As a friend who feels responsible it might be natural for Kakashi to research more about the Uchia as he matured into adult. Kakashi truly is an enigma and he is capable of almost seemingly impossible tasks thats out of his abilities. As is such perhaps Kakashi really did copy the skill even though it was one out of million chances, the process of how still remains. Kakashi isn't the type of man to kill his own friends, and the only likely person he may feel guilt for killing among his friends are shown non other than Obito but he died many years ago before he activated his Mangekyou. During that fight with Deidara (It's been awhile so correct me if I'm wrong at will) I seem to recall Kakashi saying he had a surprise up his sleeve as well, something he's been working on? I could be wrong as its been a long while since ive last read it but doesnt that mean he's been training for it? Against all odds he's managed to copy the process of how to activate a Mangekyou Sharingan from Itachi? A Sharingan cannot copy a jutsu when its a bloodline jutsu or a family jutsu if i remember, but Sharingan IS Uchia's bloodline so it might just not be impossible for Kakashi the Copy Ninja. Someone argued earlier that Kakashi knew how to use the Mangekyou but couldnt because he lacked training, when human beings are cornered they tend to do the most reckless actions for their survival yes? I'm sure Kakashi would have done anything in his power to be able to save his team of genin from Zabuza when he was trapped with that water prison jutsu even if it was a reckless move that may endanger his life. Reason why he didn't try Mangekyou if he did know it? Because he didn't know about it. And even if lets say he did know about Mangekyou since Akatstuki is S rank missing nins and theres a handbook listing a few details about criminals and powerful ninjas alike he wouldnt have had clue what the Mangekyou did until he actually saw and experience it first hand. The fact that Itachi had Mangekyou Sharingan may even have come from Jiraiya who was an expert at collecting these dangerous informations. All in all, I still would like to believe that Kakashi yet again performed miracles beyond all odds and copied it somehow by means even Itachi wasn't aware of because Kakashi is a genius thats said to surpass Shikamaru.

So what are the two theories? My best guess would've been that Kakashi absorbed the MS when he got owned by it in Konoha. The sharingan is a technique absorber, so why should this time be any different?
