    Default American Naruto Manga question

So according to that, mangas 16 to 27 will be released between September and December of 2007 in the USA.

Not thats this is a bad thing (its actually very good news, I'm estatic^^) but...why?

if it remains at the constant 9chps a book then vol. 27 should take us up too chp 234 (the chapter where Kakashi finds Naruto after the big sasuke/naruto fight)

why this sudden jump in releases? anyone know?

That seems a little bit insane.

I can think of a couple of reasons they might do that...it might have something to do with where the anime is at, for one - does anyone know? I haven't been watching the dub at all. Or it might coincide with another big release: a Naruto movie, or something like that.

Another reason could be to start to actually compete with scanlators (in terms of releases, not quality, obviously). They might think that if their translation starts catching up to Japan's releases, their readership in English could increase. What is the release schedule of the English Jump like now, anyway? They started out monthly, and I know they were hoping to move to bi-weekly and eventually weekly as the readership increased. If they start releasing chapters from Japan a week after they come out there, say, I can see a lot of people starting to buy it. I probably would, I like reading manga on paper instead of off the screen.

It still seems weird. If I were that far ahead of schedule I might just sit on it and use it as a buffer to work on other projects, instead of choosing a release schedule like that. o_o

    Edit - Here we go.

Viz has tagged the accelerated publishing campaign "Naruto Nation" and plans to release a number of other Naruto books to coincide with it, including ani-manga, an art book and a new Naruto novel. Allen said the company has been preparing for this initiative for some time, so the accelerated schedule will not affect other titles.

"Our main reason [for the accelerated schedule] was to catch up to the Japanese release schedule to give our readers a similar experience to that of our readers in Japan," Allen said. "We're also preparing for a significant break in the story arc, which happens between volumes 27 and 28. Two and a half years pass between these volumes and there is also a physical change in Naruto's and the other characters' appearance."
"The filler episodes have no impact on our manga release schedule," said Allen. "It really has everything to do with trying to create the same manga experienceof our readers in Japan and maintain a similar story arc. At this point, I'm not sure what Cartoon Network plans to do with these filler episodes."

If they really don't use the fillers I'd be impressed..

But I doubt thats the case, they might obviously take a pick of some good ones and air them.

And if they really make the releases weekly will be a good thing.. Guess its time to start saving money for naruto

I have to admit, the reason i started downloading was because the volumes here were 2 years behind japan (3 if you count the actual chp releases and not the volumes).

I'd be very happy if shonen were to have all their mangas catch up with japan.

Now if only they would do that with one piece manga and FMA manga

The reason why viz is doing a sudden jump in volume releases is because they want to cash in on the time-skip market; lol. If they went on with their slow releases, fans will get impatient, and they'll start torrenting shit.

i remember hearing the only reason the are releasing it faster is to catch up to japan cuz look at most of the dubb show in america arent far behind it Japanese counter part pokemon is only like 10-20 ep behind and look at naruto theres a 200 episode different

More like a 100-120 episode difference counting fillers, but i have to admit i was surprised when i saw this when reading that chapter too.

they announced the time skip would take place in 5 months, and i thought, "wait, isn't the manga like 100 chapters behind for that to happen?"

But i'm not complainig at all.

i hope cartoon network doesn't show the fillers, but we all know that won't happen.

i don't blame them either. if it's only like 15 fillers, counting the last few, that were, for a chance, not as boring as the rest, then i suppose it's alright.

The anime in Cartoon network is at the point tsunade becomes hokage.
When she comes to the village, heals sasuke etc.
    i would think it's about episode 100

it's going at an ok pace, can't wait for episodes 130-135

    *Edit*
I think there are going to be 5 new chapters every month, which is pretty good.
I can't wait for volumes 27 on, i'll start buying again from that point on.
