Thread: Why did Jiraiya not join the hunt for Itachi?

There many reasons why Jiraiya should have joined. First of all he is a sannin, a very powerful ninja with many powerful techniques. He managed to fight Itachi and Kisame by himself. While Kakashi with 2 other jonins were defeated very fast the last time he met Itachi with 100 percent chakra.
Jiraiya most remarkable skill is to find people and gather infomation. Examples of this are that he discovered how that oro cannot switch bodies for another 3 years once it done it with someone . The only people who would know this would be oro, kabuto, or some of his minions.Which is a quite an achievement and to know exactly when oro did the body switch at the end of the Sasuke retrieval arcis amazing . Also he discovered much about Akatsuki which is a small organization. That would make it very difficult to get any infomation but still managed to gather some.
So why is he not part of the hunt for Itachi? He has far more fighting experience then any of people in the teams and is arguably the strongest ninja introduced. He said there was only 2 times where he nearly died which was when tsunade attacked him for peeking and when naruto went 4 tails. Two people who he cares about could be able to to injure near death and not of any of his battles with other shinobi.
So please tell me your opinion about whatever Jiraiya should be part of the hunt for Itachi. To be honest I was disappointed because I was hoping to see Jiraiya battling at his full capacity but hopefully that will come later in the manga

Hunting Itachi may be important to Naruto because it gets him closer to Sasuke, but there are bigger forces at work in Konoha and attention needs to be evenly spread. Just because Naruto's the main character doesn't mean everyone else in the story has to be doing ancillary actions to his. Jiraiya is a busy man, he has other things to do than fight mass murderers.

Which would be gathering "material" for his book. lol

Konoha still has to do missions and sasuke is not a top priority, thats y jiraiya is not there with naruto.

Jiraiya is serious when it comes to Konoha, I doubt thats what he's spending any reasonable amount of time doing.

Jiraiya has no business doing any real fighting anymore. Hes a retired ninja. Now hes jus trying to fuck, get twisted, and write book porn. Hes like Ron Jeremy but a ninja. And it wouldnt a manga if obvious paths to victory were taken. Hell why not just get every kage in every ninja village to jump each akasuki member

Yeah you are probably right but I still find it a waste that we cant see more of
Jiraiya, he is a funny and cool character in naruto

Because the manga is called Naruto, not Jaraiya. For character development you want to let your characters struggle. It would be to cheap and boring if Jaraiya came around and saved Naruto and co. every time they got into trouble.

Obviously Jiraiya and Anko are hooking up.

now this sort of confused me:
jiraiya and tsunade could not beat orochimaru ganging up.
orochimaru could not defeat itachi
itachi and kisame are afraid of jiraiya
sasuke defeated orochimaru (even tho it was when he was weak)
this is um...very not matching.
