Why does Naruto always get compared to HxH?

They're similar. I get it.

If only Togashi would continue HxH.
A promising Manga (not talking about the drawing) with a lot of possibilities that just ends. That sucks

like sum1 else said i think any1 that has seen or read hunter x hunter knows that naruto (being the newer of the two) seems to str8 rip it off in almost every way.

In my opinion kishi was a fan of Hunter x Hunter as well, and wanted to use many of the ideas from Hunter X Hunter. He has many articles naming other popular mangas/animes he grew up with and how he uses bits n pieces from 'em.

Other similarities are also found in many other shounen manga as another person said, if you've read enough manga or seen enough anime u'd notice that there's plenty similarities in a lot of 'em.

There's a general rule in life that says
If You Can't Be 1st, Then Be The Best.

so since a lot of ideas have already been used by sumthing else, it doesnt mean u shoudlnt use it. Just improve on 'em, make it better.

but aren't all shounen mangas alike???

Lets start comparing, all mangas are alike!
First Bleach and Naruto (My favorites, Bleach have some nice art and Naruto have a good story).

-Both have a Hero. Ichigo and Naruto.
-Super fast training/learning capabilities for the hero.
-Have one/several bad guys.
-They are/was a member of a super evil organisation or group. Arrancars and Akatsuki.
-They both had a useless healing character at the start but is now in the current arc far better/superior/important. Sakura and Inoue, the latter isn't exactly healing though.
-Both have a rival for the hero that has a eye condition and are perhaps as strong or stronger than the hero. Ishida and glasses, Sasuke and Sharingan.
-Both heroes has a awesome demon inside of them that can kick everyones ass. Kyuubi and Hichigo.
-Both of the demons are crazy and has a huge bloodlust.
-The hero Ichigo and Naruto has a side-effect from using the demon. Exhaustion and/or damage to their body.

u forgot this:
Sakura = Rukia----> Hard nosed female main character who constantly beat up on the main character and basically have him do what she wants.
Inoue = Hinata ---->Is crazy in love with the main character who doesn't realize it. And tries to work hard to be stronger.

Yeah, here is some extra:
-Both Sakura and Rukia are flat.
-Inoue and Hinata is really shy.
-Demon peoples are set into groups. Vaizards and Jinchuriki.
-The hero seems very protective for the shy girl. Naruto and Hinata, Ichigo and Inoue.
-The badguys organisation are gathering powerful subjects for their plans. Biju and Vasto Lorde.

Naruto isn't over-powered like Bleach though, and that is a good thing.
And atleast someone dies in Naruto where in Bleach the author keep adding people without killing them off. Except for the badguys.

Yeah...red eyes don't really signify a similarity beyond just that, similar colored eyes. Kurapika's family's eyes turned red when they were angry, and it has no benefit beyond the color change. The Sharingan is a blood-line technique that has any number of abilities. Kurapika had to train to enable himself to turn his eyes red at will, and when doing so he can access any nen-type at 100%. OK, Chidori came before Killua's electric attacks. The full body chidori came after, but it's hardly copying. It's moving a technique from the hand to the whole body, hardly something new, and it's also hardly an original idea to surround oneself in electricity.

group of 4 as a team. Leorio kurapica gon and killua / kakashi naruto sasuke sakura. kakashi and leorio resembles ldrship and wise. naruto sasuke and gon killua resembles growth and kurapica and saukra resembles intellgence,

The fuck? The HxH group were just friends who hung out for a time. Kurapika didn't hang around for long and joined the mafia after getting his liscence. Leorio left the group shortly after getting Killua out of his family's house. For most of the series, it's been Gon and Killua.

Though if you really want to think that anything with a group of 4 people is a rip off of Hunter X Hunter...
