not sure if this has been discussed before.. but Ive had a nagging question in the back of my head for a while.

are Shikamaru's shadow bind, ino's mind transfer and the other clan's techniques blood line limits or are they just secret clan techniques?
imo its the latter but i was curious.

and if these are 'secret' clan techniques than wouldnt the sharingan wielders be able to copy and use them?

im sure itachi, sasuke and kakashi have all seen these clan's techniques.

their techniques are just hidden techniques. I guess it would be possbile to copy it

Well given the jutsu you mentioned, even if one were to copy Ion's mind transfer or Shikamaru's shadown bind they wouldn't know how to use it correctly or effectively.

Think about it, if a someone copies mind transfer jutsu and don't know to use it effectively, it could mean instant death. If someone couldn't think like Shikamaru's mind, he or she wouldn't be able to catch any1 with the shadow.

So in my opinion, yes the jutsu should be able to be copied but not every jutsu is suitable for all shinobis to use.

Hmm... I don't believe Sharingan is that powerful to be able to copy all sorts of jutsus. We know it can't copy a Kekkei Genkai already, but whats holding them back from copying such other ninjutsus/genjutsus?
My guess is, Sharingan is limited to copy only psychically performed jutsus, especially seal-performing-ninjutsus and taijutsus techniques, but not the taijutsus power itself, or the ninjutsu's special way of molding chakra/special chakras such as elemental chakras.
Just like Sasuke copying Lee's taijutsu, but lacking the stamina and power to perform it perfectly....
In short words, training>copying anytime, and Sharingan is not all-powerful.

I think it has more to do with who is wielding the Sharingan. It may be able to copy the jutsu but if the wielder can't perform it, then it's really not effective. Such as in the case with Sasuke learning Lee's taijutsu (I know it's not a ninjutsu, I'm just making an example). Even though his Sharingan copied it, he still had to have a body was capable of performing it and luckily, he did. I also think that the element thing plays into it as well. I think the user has to also be able to use the element of that jutsu to be able to use the jutsu.

Kinda like, someone can copy japanese kanjis, doesn't mean he can speak or even write.
