konoha lacks a proper army ?

basically, in the naruto world all the fights are done by ninjas ...... and ninjas usually work as small units together .......

usual army fighting classes : melee, ranged, seige, stealth

how do you think would the ninjas hold up if they were attacked by a village with a proper army( eg: massive numbers, swords and shields/spears etc) ... supposing any village like the mist or sand has a well armed and trained army , Konoha wouldnt stand a chance
excepting the fact that some are exceptionally powerful/have bijuu

on a sidenote : did the mist-nin jonins have long swords ....i saw that somewhere but cant remember if it was filler or canon

They have summons (siege), and clones (massive numbers), I think that it'll work out ok.

plus no one else has all that stuff youre talking about. its like a odd mix of feudal japan with modern technology. Its a rather improbable situation.

The sand seem to have a good supply of troops to defeat its walls, but that might because they have more threats.

It's hard to say if a large army is needed since one good shinobi is worth a army of men. I mean, the whole akatsuki clan, consisting of a handful of people, could take over a country in one night's time if they wanted.

Each village is made mostly of ninja that have abilities that make up for numbers. The Hyuuga clan can probably easily take down any army. Armies have to give up speed to get organized; ninjas specialize in disorganized fighting. Its like guerilla warfare v. standing armies- guerillas will always win. Also, the whole bunshin and summons thing Adonai mentioned would more than equal the playing field.

I dont why we even bother answer him. Konoha has some of the strongest ninjas. and it breeds some of the strongest too. And not to forget it is the strongest out of all the villages.

Dindn't the Fourth Hokage, kinda single handed won the Third Ninja War?

Thats what happens.
1 super skilled ninja > 200 averages ones.

Not only that no they have 2 Legendary Sannins at their disposal for any war that come knocking on their door

theres no proof that other villages dont have ninja of the Saanin level... its just the Konoha 3 are the most famous.

^ maybe... maybe not... but sheer number won't do squat against konoha shinobi... look at what happened to Orochi's assault on konoha... yes, he was able to kill sarutobi, but at what cost? and the army of ninjas he was able to send to battle was almost entirely decimated... can you just imagine what a normal army, however large it may be, can do to konoha? wherein it is implied both in the manga and anime that they produce the best quality ninja?

Konoha's ninja were obliterated in that battle. Hell the whole new job Tsunade had was making sure Konoha didnt get attacked by anyone else becauase they would have been defenseless. Sure Konoha took down two other villages but shit at what cost...

wouldnt Chiyo be about saanin level...
