There are some problems with carrying that out, there's a shortage of sharingan to pass around, and the Hyuga would kill anyone who tries to take their eyes.

Actually they would be, they just happen to be due to two different alleles (assuming that only one gene controls this phenotype).

But we don't really know if one of them is dominant to the other, maybe they are codominant. And I personaly think that Byakugan is transplantable beacuse why would they put a curse seal to erase if after death if it wouldn't?

I figure the seal isnt to erase it, but to stop people from learning about how it works and it's weaknesses

Seal on byakugan is simply to protect the bloodline secrets.

How it works and such, you die, you get your genes zapped frying the byakugan.
Preventing people from studing it to come up with a countermesure..

yep sounds pretty much like it. also i think that the hyuuga's and the uchiha's were/are probably too proud to let their people interbreed.

are the Uchihas and Hyugas the only bloodline clans in Konoha ? i dont recall any others
compared to other villages they should have a higher number since they are the strongest village ..
even the bloody mist village had Kimimaro and Haku and gaara's village has none

Haku's blood limit sucked though. It was more like a secret technique in its power than anything else, and it didn't actually change anything about his body. I think that was an instance of the author not having worked out the power system yet.

The way in which the byakugan and sharingan develop is completely different though. If you remember back to the Chuunin exam prelim tournament, in the match between the Hyuugas, Hinata had to perform a jutsu to release her byakugan while Neji just released it. I think the byakugan is a manufactured ability that the body eventually gets used to so much that it becomes the natural state. Thats why the division within the clan makes sense. Those whose bodies have grown so acclimated to the byakugan during their lifetime die with the byakugan, while others die without the byakugan (due to their seal). But, the sharingan is not a manufactured ability. Sasuke got his Sharingan when he was in a life-or-death situation when he needed stronger perception and when his emotions were on high(yes, personal interpretation). His eyes just naturally adapted to form the tomoes of the sharingan without Sasuke's deliberate attempts to use the sharingan.
Also, we've never heard of a Hyuuga without a byakugan, but we have heard of Uchihas without the Sharingan.

A one-tadpole is still probably better than 90% of other ninja of the same rank.
