Worked through that myself when I was about 7 or 8, so no need to go through it here. I always think it's usually along the lines of two things 1 they're scared what will happen to them after death or 2 they know they can't take it with them and want to enjoy their ill gotten stuff while they still can.

That's why I think he has something beyond just it being sewn back on. Maybe he sculpts himself prostheses, or is just a really good regenerator in general? The guy has mouths in his hands, his body can't be normal.

    Uryuu freaky, pale and geeky,

But, speaking of the guy, does his other arm work now? One of his arms was mangled by Gaara in that fight at Sunagakure.
I think he only has the one, the conversation they had suggested that, he was only shown recovering that arm, he could have had the other reattached a lot earlier if he wanted, it was smooshed, and I don't think Kishimoto would have gone to all the trouble of only showing one arm when he went sanbi hunting without reason.

Because he's the damm Eric Cartman of the Akatsuki.

Eric Cartman? He's nothing like him at all. Cartman's just fat and insane, Hidan's a voodoo cultist. Whatever.

Methinks R3dKnight was refering to Hidan's ability to curse out half of Konoha's important population in one breath.
I brainstorm with my multiple personalities.
