It seems reasonable to me to make a wind shuriken with a spiraling sphere situated at its center. But I bet thats only the tip of the iceberg. Do you think a wind shuriken can create a huge crater?

Still, though... This rasenshuriken is one of a kind in the manga. There is no other ninja in Konoha who has a jutsu that comes close to this.

of course not. When naruto shows his best move, it is usually in a flashy move. Thats what i like about naruto, the guy got style...except for maybe his clothe. Though, you gotta admit, it does fit his bubbly personality.

The 'rasengan' that Sasuke uses in the 1st movie isn't what you think it is. It's a stone used to negate the suits ability. That's why the suit cracked in the middle.

Another possibility is that Naruto held back power to make a weaker version, though there's no way for me to confirm this or any other theory as of right now that I know of.

Jiraiya said in the manga that the smaller the rasengan gets the stronger it is (and then kishi comes out with the odama rasengan and that negates his previous statement) so only kishi knows what the hell happens with all those rasengans and wich is stronger or if they even are different.

im pretty sure what you guys are calling the rasenshuriken is just the fuuton rasengan more powered up than the combo used with yamato's attack. cant u even wait for the release and actually read some facts before heading off an tangents based purely on speculation??

seems like 666 satan and naruto use each other's ideas...

From what I've gathered when refering to attack ability all that is neccessary for maximized power is perfect spheral compression, the mass of the ball will actually increase strength as long as power and spin is maintained at 100 percent.

The size of the Rasengan Naruto used as Sai was most likely of smaller size to make it less fatal, it only makes sense especially with evidence in recent chapters, Naruto has completely mastered the non elemental Rasengan and can form manipulate it to various sizes and levels of stability.

Take a closer look at the panels, Kishi has never shown Naruto forming Rasengan without using motion lines around the hands, the jutsu is formed and being released at this point.

Also on the next page in the chapter Naruto gets caught transforms back into his true form and still has the small version of Rasengan in his palm; it does not disperse or get larger, it stays that way until he releases the clone. An incomplete attempt would have dispersed as soon as he was countered.
