But about Kazuku's katon canceling the fuuton.

I was in agreement with what you were saying.
I also wont "jump the gun", but I was making the assumption that shinobi probably only have 2 S-rank jutsu. But as I was making coffee I realized that this is Akatsuki I am talking about, they probably only have S-rank and kage level jutsu in their arsenal.
