    Default Deidara is....

Kay I know that their is no official answer to this question, but I still want view the evidence and see which is the right answer by a poll.

    Deidara is a man.....

    Evidence:

    1.the name is masculine.

    Deidara is a woman....

    Evidence:

    1. Seems to be fem, even compared to other members
    2. Hidan calls Deidara "Deidara chan" in chapter 332(could be an insult though which would make it pro male in that case)
    3. In terms of Kishimoto behavior she's female. i.e. the actuall beating of an ally for comic purposes. I could be wrong, though I can't think of a male character in kishi's series that behaves like this, but Sakura and Tsunade are both known for these types of outbursts.

I can't really think of anymore proof that Deidara's male or for the female side, but feel free to add evidence that I forgot.

I'd like Deidara more if s/he were female, but it's been stated that s/he speaks in a masculine Japanese dialect.

Good point, but at the same time it wouldn't be the first female character in manga or anime to speak in a masculine Japanese dialect.

Of course that's true. And it wouldn't be the first time a female had a masculine name, as well.

I wonder if Kishimoto knows that his fans can't really discern Deidara's sex. It'd be funny if a chapter popped up some day where s/he had to take his robe off and most of the cast was there trying to get a peak at the final resulting gender.

This kind of reminds me of Nell from Bleach except now they know that Nell is a girl.

I'm hoping for that, cause it'd be funny as hell.

Better yet the akatsuki go to a hot springs and everyone's starring at Deidara. waiting to see which side s/he goes in.

Kind of an inconsequential thread, isn't it?
    Evidence:

    1.the name is masculine.
I don't know if or what the official romanization is, but "Deidara" sounds extremely similar to the name "Deidre", which, to my knowledge, is a woman's name.

Still, for my money, hir speech and behaviour lead me to believe sie's a man, (even if I do hedge my bets with awkward pronouns).

Deidara was like Ruppi from Bleach. No one knew.

Im going to say shes a girl because I want her to be. It would just be so weird if she was a guy. That and there needs to be more female villains. No, Oro doesn't count.

    ITS A TARP!!!
