Why do you think Itachi joined Akatsuki?

I really hate to start a thread for this, but today that question popped into my head. I was re-reading the last chapters, and came to the part where the Akatsuki Leader explained their goal about conquering the world's economy and the strategy to achieve it.

So far Itachi's personality and actions have been the most complex to understand. One day he develops this idea about becoming the most powerful ninja, then killed his clan for not thinking the same way as he, spared Sasuke's life for what seems to be a whim. All what involves his character remains in deep mystery. Yet, he's never been portrayed as greedy man.

What has Itachi got to do with Akatsuki's goal?

I think that will add to a "plot twist" sooner or later. Like maybe Itachi betrays akatsuki...?

No its probably just because there was nothing better at the time. And since he likes to finish what he started he won't leve until the end.

Itachi killed his clan to test his capabilities...as for why he joined Akatsuki we don't really know just yet. Suffice to say everyone in Akatsuki joined to achieve some goal...Itachi must have his own goal as well.

he probably joined cause he wanted to be chanllenged by the great ninjas seeing how he likes to fight

1.he probably wants to test his abilities and probably kill akatsuki at the end

2.when he saw the organization recruting members his eyes probably sparkled and he said
"if I can stay with them long enough, I can get strong enough to kill them and be the most strongest ninja in the world"

3.Or he could join for his own personal reasons

maybe, he want to achieve some plans but need the support of akatsuki.. just like they say.. as long as akatsuki's plan suceed.. they can help them suceed their own goals..

aktsuki are the best of the best.....of the psychotic freaks created by a killer deranged whacko. that was the best he could find then. and he 'duh' fitted right in. what better resume would aktsuki want than an uber uchiha who left no loose ends to tie him down.( this is from the akatsuki point of view, so don't bring sasuke into this). and that basically sums up uchiha itachi. what else??? did i miss anything.
