watching the manga, I have found that as it progresses, the jutsus are becoming more and more flashy, and more and more useless.
examples
Katon Gokakyou no Jutsu - fires a large ball of fire at the opponent. Uses up more chakra than possessed by most genin. So, we have a round flame that takes up a lot of chakra. Once you send out the fire, it moves at the same speed for all, meaning that most pretty much chouji and the like are the only ones who it actually presents a threat to. Great. A super chakra expenses jutsu, only for fat people
Doton DorokuGaeshi - Raises a small wall out of the ground. This wall happens to be super weak, as chouji had no problem breaking through it. Great, we have a wall, that the opponent can just walk around, or breaking down super easily. pretty much only useful against kunai and kibakufuda. In that case, why not just use kawarimi?
Doton Doryo Dango - Lets see. You do the seals, touch the ground, and pick up a few tons of ground. Not even counting using up chakra on the jutsu, holding it and thowring it takes up so much, that it is useless without a shitload of chakra, since you would be crushed by your own jutsu. Now, assuming that you were dumb enough to waste a shitload of chakra on this, and didn't die but actually threw it. Either opponent is stupid like just stares there wide eyed (in this case you actually get something done), uses kawarimi for almost no chakra, rushes you in that instant where due to your momentum you are vulnurable (You just wasted all that chakra so that you could create an oppening to be attacked), or like chouji, throws it back. So, we have a jutsu that takes a shitload of chakra, and is only useful against complete retards.
Genjutsu - genjutsu as a whole, except for Itachi's tsukiyomi, is completely useless against a well prepared shinobi. All you need is a bit of pain, to get out of a genjutsu. So, all shinobi should have anti-genjutsu armor to begin with. Just put tiny nails in your cloths, so any limb movement causes 1 to poke you lightly. OK, as for tsukiyomi, just don't look Itachi in the eye.
Suiton Suikoudan no Jutsu - Blasts forward a line of water. Hm... this is really hard to dodge, I mean having to move an intire 2 meters in nearly an intire second is nearly impossible. All sarcasm aside, what use is a jutsu, that can be dodged by anyone at the minimum level of the user?
Chidori - This, we all have a discription of, along with how it takes a shit load of charka, and requires high speed + sharingan. Now, this only cuts through the user where it hits, leaving a big hole. However, tsunade's super power fist, also known by Sakura, takes less chakra, and can probably be copied with ease. It also allowes the user to move in anything other than a straight line, and if times right, can break the user into pieces. So why learn chidori, when there is a much simpler, and much more powerful technique?
Now, I know that this thread may seem similar to efficient jutsu use, but I think it is different enough to warrant its own thread.
So, what is this thread about? Whether you agree with jutsus getting flashy and useless, or whether you think they are just getting better, and/or I'm retarded. Also, I am doing this late at night, but feel free to post other useless jutsus, or some jutsu that you thought of, that obeys the rules set by the mangaka, and can get the job done more easily. In my case, here is mine:
Ishiuchi no jutsu (rock shooting techniuqe) - relys on theories from tree climbing and water walking. In tree climbing, the user concentrates chakra to their feet, and it flows into the tree. The chakra has a naturally compelling nature to itself, resulting in a situation where the chakra in the tree and in your foot is pulling each other together. This is from the fact that when Sasuke used too much chakra, the bark in the trees were pulling at each other with too much force, and fell out. Water walking relies on exerting chakra from your feet into the water, such that it is by nature, pushing away from each other. This results in the user being pushed up from the water, and if done with an equal force to gravity, the user will refrain from sinking into the water, or being thrown into the air. Now, taking these two theories, say a shinobi collects rocks at around 5 gram weight. For using the jutsu, he simply puts a rock on a finger, and exels charka from that finger so that the rock is drawn in. Next the shinobi raises his finger and aims. Lastly, shinobi uses chakra similar to water training to shoot the rock away. Since the feet are the hardest part to concentrate chakra, it should be easy to concentrate at least as much on the finger as in water walking.
Now, lets find how useful this jutsu is. Assuming the shinobi is 50kg, (bit underweight for 15 - naruto's age-), the shinobi is 10,000 times as heavy as the rock. Now, every second, the shinobi must put out as much chakra, as is needed to lift him 9.8 meters, if gravity is lost, since gravity pulls at 9.8m/sec. So, if the shinobi puts out as much chakra in this technique as he uses in the water training per second, he could lauch a stone his weight at 9.8m/sec. Since the stone is 1/10,000 of his weight, we can multiply the speed by 10,000. We have a uses so little chakra, Academy Students could do it, except for the chakra control, and sends a rock flying at 98km/sec. This could probably cut through almost any "ultimate defense". Now, this rock would fly straight through the enemy. Just put some poison on it, such as the near instant kill Kankurou uses, and kill before enemy knows what happened. Sharingan won't help you dodging, since as Lee said, "if you can read the movements, your body doesn't have the speed". So, no matter how good the sharingan, there is no way someone could dodge this at close range.
