Where does it say it's too complicated to have more than two? What is said, is that two elemantals is required to become a Jounin. Kakashi then says he's better with Lightning, but can manipulate the other elements as well.

And yes, you need to have special genetics to combine, "note" comebine two elements together to make a new element. That means Naruto can't perform ice attacks. But you do not need a Kekkie Genkai to perform a tenchnique that uses two different elements. The Third, uses an earth technique Earth Dragon Missle, and then follows up with a fire technique to create something entirely different.

Two elemental types are not even required to become a Jounin. All Kakashi says is that by the time someone becomes a Jounin, they've usually become proficient in a second elemental type.

Earth dragon missile, and combining it with fire to make fire dragon missile were only done by the third hokage in the anime. I don't think 2 elements have been "mixed" in the manga, so there would be no reason to think that Naruto would mix elements.
Note: I consider "combine" to mean create a new element (ice, wood) through an advanced bloodline, and "mix" to mean use 1 after the other to make a new attack.

No, a direct quote is "A minimum of two elements are required in order to become a jounin."

    Page 5, of chapter 216.

And I didn't know he didn't mix techniques in the manga. I've only read the the Kakashi Gaiden to present.

We've talked about this in another thread. But Guy has to have two elements. And note that it's never been said that Gai can't mold his chakra. He just perfers Taijutsu over Ninjutsu. Lee has been the only person said to not be able to mold Chakra.

I guess that depends on which version of the translation is correct.

It doesn't make sense that having two elemental proficiencies is required to become a jounin, because there are many other types of ninja who don't rely on elemental attacks at all who are jounin, or much stronger than jounin. It's not required that a ninja uses elemental attacks to be a powerful ninja, so to put such a restrictive requirement on becoming a jounin would be silly.

    Examples:

    - Gai (although we've seen that he can use fire, but doesn't usually because he's a taijutsu specialist)
    - Kankuro, Chiyo and Sasori (they use puppets, traps and poisons)
    - Hyuuga clan members (seem to rely solely on their bloodline limit, which don't belong to any elemental type)

Well that it does. I wonder if anybody could clarify this for us? That's a huge difference. If you're required to have two elements to become a Jounin, then all Jounin's have at least two elements.

And if not, Then perhaps some Jounins like Guy, don't actually have any elementals.
