With the impending advent of a new album - slated at May 6 - I think it's time to get a bit of discussion on the best rock group out there today. The new album will be called "10,000 Days", and here's the track listing:

Apparently. It doesn't sound very Tool-esque, and Tool have a habit of pulling pranks... but here's hoping one's on its way anyway.

So who else here can't get enough of these guys???

So far the only album I have by them is Lateralus; though from what I've heard they are really good. I think I might get one of their earlier albums soon and just go from there.

i can't wait for their new cd to come out...i've been hearing about it for almost 2 years now. i've seen these guys live 3 times, and they are one of my favourite bands out there. the title to the new album could have seriously been better, but whatever. as along as it delivers quality music to my ears with crazy drum partterns performed by danny carrey then i'm happy.

i have lateralus and aenima, but i think i've heard only lateralus. i'm not really big on them--i'm certainly not a tool-worshipping fan (or a fan at all).

Check out Aenima. So far, I'd say that's their crowning achievement. Set aside enough time in the day to listen to it all in one stretch though... Although the individual songs kick all sorts of ass, this is one album where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. All the little segues and stuff really add to the experience (with the possible exception of (-) Ions... but still, go through it at least once)

Fuck yeah, Danny Carey rules. My favourite member would have to be Adam Jones, tho. Being a (struggling) guitar player myself might have something to do with it, but even so, that work is damn good. He's in charge of all the music videos and shit, too. What a guy.

jones is an awsome guitar player, these guys have some of the best guitar riffs for their genre of music. i especially love the mellow parts that he plays in songs such as ticks and leeches and schism. but i would have to agree when you say that aenima is their best album so far. lateralus didn't disappoint but aenima as u said, comes together as a whole better than lateralus does. anyways, can't wait for the new album and new music vids that hopefully jones is going to make again.

Hell yeah. I have to say, I'm surprised there aren't more fans here. Would have thought this kind of venue would have alot of fans. Hmm.

Tool is, without a doubt, one of my all-time favorites. It used to be one of those thing were I didn't consider myself a "fan." Until I realized that everytime I listened to their stuff, I would get shivers and not be able to stop listening to their stuff.
The one thing that disapoints me is that so many people listen to their music and don't take the time to sort out what they lyrics mean. Lateralus is the perfect example. That album literally changed how I view life. Take the time to sort them out on your own; it's worth it.

the thing isn't that i dislike them, but i haven't really given them enough thought. i don't care much for the genre, so they tend to get lost in the shuffle (literally too). i've heard some things that i liked, others that were okay, and others i wouldn't have any inclination to listen to again, but the point of the matter is that i can't form an opinion on them as of yet.

there's a forum i go to where it's overrun with tool and dream theater fans...
