I would say that we should not be posting who the "best" giutarist is, but who you THINK is the best, or your favourite. I really dont want this topic turning into a 99 page flaming fest, like in the newgrounds BBS. I've seen it done before.

Anyhow, I'm surprised no one has said Miachael Angelo, I recomending you downloading a song called "no boundaries". It's quite amazing.

To be honest, I'm kinda surprised no one mentioned Jimmy Page... or if they did, I didn't see it. :P He is pretty amazing, just take a listen of Rock and Roll or Black Dog or, of course, Stairway to Heaven. Good stuff.

Anyway, I think my favourite guitarist is not Sir Page, but Pete Townshend. If you ever get to see a performance by The Who when Townshend was in his prime, you'll see what I mean. He was nuts, jumping around and breaking guitars and all that. Badass, really.

I also like Tom Morello and Angus Young. They're all good

Since I'm a huge fan of his, allow me, Yngwie Malmsteen. for those of us who aren't swedish, thats prounounced like E-vay.
Im swedish but im almost positive that hes last name is Malmsten not Malmsteen, cuz Malmsten is a common name in sweden, and words with 2 e's like in his name is not common in sweden...

this is a topic to vote on who u think is the best, but still like i said u should consider how much the guy or gal played while he was alive, for example jimmy hendrix he was goddamn good when he was alive however he isnt and while he has the limitations of bing the best here are so many new and better guitar players thatn hendrix IF u compare while he was alive,i agree that he whould be one of the best (well u never know there are so many players and what whouldve happened if hendrix would slack off?!)but he is dead and thats fact, but u can still vote for hendrix if u like ,and just bcause u like the guitarrist it doenst mean he is the best, this is the best player u think and not your favorite of course most of u think your fav is the best so never mind.

John Petrucci. His right hand was faster than anybody i've ever know. He had a wide range of technique as well as Vai.

more importanly, his song was better.
