Look, just b/c MTVU decided to put one of their songs on some gay anti-child China labor propaganda doesn't mean they are being compared to The Beatles.
It just means we care!
Just got the new album. First impression was that it had a very ambient sound overall but the songs were not cohesive enough at parts, except for the first and last songs reprised riff, and in some parts it made me think what it would sound like with Bono on the vocals. But overall it was good, something different and fresh for a band like Coldplay. I specially liked the middle tracks, those were quite appealing.

^I agree. The only songs I even liked rhythmically were Viva la Vida and Violet hill. Actual reading of the lyrics weren't especially impressive either.

I just downloaded X&Y and Viva La Vida and I haven't listened to them straight through but I like Swallowed In The Sea. Viva La Vida sounds exactly like a U2 song.
I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

I was intoxicated with Viva la Vida. Still am, but now I also really like Strawberry Swing and Violet Hill.
I thought the album was pretty solid as a whole. Obviously not one of the best albums I've ever heard but it wasn't too bad.
By the way, U2 sucks balls.
The first time when I listened to Violet Hill
it started slow, and I hated it.
It just needs a few times to play before I really got hooked to it.
Violet Hill and Viva la Vida are the songs I really liked.
