Heart shaped box, and their cover of Man who sold the world, are amazing... Teen Spirit is a beutifully simple song, and I always end up playing it whenever I jam with someone new. It seems like every musician in the world knows how to play their corresponding part of that song.

Nirvana is the band that people start listening to in seventh grade that introduces them to a whole new world of music they wouldn't have heard otherwise. It's great.

YESSS!!! musically they aren't that talented, but they got a lot of passion. My faves are Come as you are, breathe, Lake of Fire, and Heart Shaped box.

@popothepenguin: I don't think that they weren't talented; we should better say that they played grunge when nobody knew even what it was... so that their value wasn't correctly acknowledged. Kurt Cobain was a genius, indeed.

No, it's a pretty commonly known fact that Kurt, at least, wasn't that great a musician.

Dave was a pretty beast drummer, though. No denying it. And Foo FIghters kick ass...

Well, if popothepenguin refered to this fact, than I'll agree with you, because i've also heard it and I agree with it... Anyways, although he wasn't a virtuous, he was still a genius... Not everyone can do what he did.

^Agreed, I wouldn't have guts to do that too, I would say even more - this idea wouldn't even cross my non-genius mind.

But seriously, I don't really care about Kurt himself, he has some good songs and he was doing his job (musician) with lots of passion and that's counts, even if he was junkie and suicidal-idiot. Sometimes it's better to not know about the singers, because it could harm the song itself.
