Yeah. That's why we say hip-hop sucks, now. Because it has CHANGED.

yes, it sucks, but its hardly dead.
wasn't he going to release a new album? O_o
Awwww, all these complains about dance songs... sure, a lot of them that I hear are crap (er, when I actually go and dance somewhere), but I've always preferred those kinds of songs to rap. I don't hate rap, but it's harder to listen to for someone who appreciates the music (melody + arrangement + voices/instruments) of a song more than the lyrics. That's why a lot of the new dance stuff is shit - because it doesn't really have good music, and it doesn't have good lyrics. I don't know nearly as much about rap, let alone old school rap, as anyone else in this thread, but I'm pretty sure I'm correct in saying that it's usually about the lyrics.
...to be honest, I see rap and dance hip-hop as two very different genres. I'm probably wrong, but that's the way I see it. You can't dance to rap as well, and you can't really appreciate good lyrics in dance (well, some m-flo collaborations... but they definitely don't count). Maybe what they need is to split off, and then you can get your good stuff back.
Oh, and guys... music thread, not race discussion. Be careful on that topic.
I only started listening to Hiphop about 1 year ago, when i heard some great underground from some distant friends. I never thought that i would like it, because i accually was listening to metal at that time.
Well i don't think Hiphop is dead at all. There are still some dope artists bringing out great stuff like :
-Madlib / Quasimoto
Check those out !
^Who the fuck are those guys!?
