Then you should get out of your myopic mindset.
I'm sure you still call white people "white".

You're all prejudiced and you're barely hiding it. ALL of you. I'd advise you to drop it.

I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.

Rap is considered Pop now along with some of that emo stuff. With songs like "Party like a Rock Star", "This is why im Hot", and so on and so forth polluting the airways, as great artist like Lupe (best Hip-Hop/Rap album of last year), LB (The Minstrel Show and The Listening are great albums), and Pharoahe Monch (new album drops soon lol) are ignored by the masses. The musical triad MVB is prospering.

ok......enough of that....on to some of the artist.

50 cent............garbage. Sure, he keeps the tradition of battling in the game, but making a career on battling while sporting average skills is ridiculous! Not to mention the idea of battling now has become a popularity contest, ever since LL beat out Canibus is their famous duel.

T.I......ok he's nice. Luda.....nice......Outkast.....greatness (the new single with UGK is amazing). Em....always been nice, Game.....nice (his last cd was nice....and i think he's better than 50), Asheru(the brilliant mind behind most of the music featured in "The Boondocks")....greatness.

so yeah thats what i think.....

oh and to make such a judgement like "everyone who likes hip-hop thinks they are gangsters...." is such an ignorant statement, and if you are adamant on that belief i feel sorry for you. Just goes to show national separation on another level eh?
Word. I downloaded the theme song lol. Asheru collaborates a lot with other political artists. Didn't mention Talib Kweli, Common, Nas, Luda apparently got into it too. Immortal Technique.

Has anyone considered the fact that all the popular overplayed songs are all DANCE songs? their made for clubs. You don't see people bumping those songs when they drive around, no. Along with the whole bump n grind era and the whole bling bling shoot, you could say that the era of shitty lyrics and good beats has arrived.

old school hip-hop is dead, but along comes the new era with sick new beats and some people bringing back old traditions. Ne-Yo is bringing back the michael jackson and stevie wonder beats, who says that some new artist can't do that with old school artists like tupac? No, they can't, because old school hip-hop was all about the lyrics. Nowadays, all people listen to is the beat and how catchy the song is. Thats why shit songs can be considered good if they have a good beat and a catchy phrase, despite the utterly crap lyrics.

And how come people here haven't mentioned kanye? He's bringing back TRUE hip-hop.

No, old school hip-hop defined was breakbeats. Things like rocksteady crew, a tribe called quest, earth wind and fire, that was the original hip-hop. That morphed into tupac's new age "rap" hip-hop, which really set the definition of hip-hop into stone, but you can't forget its roots. Hip-hop has been around forever, just continuously changing, therefore, its not dead. Its just been morphed into something that isn't the same as before. As a breaker, i respect and listen to old school hip-hop, but people who don't break don't listen to the oldies. They don't realize that old school hip-hop is just as good as the new age sick beats, therefore, the new age popular music becomes the new hip-hop. Just some artists stay true to the original roots, but you realize, all of those artists have been around for a while.

luda, snoop dog, Nas, Outkast, how long do you think they've been around? they were the ones who made the change from the old-school to the new age hip-hop. The era of breaking is over, and its all onto "krunking" now. Its all perspective.
