Default Best songs from best albums

    I will start with:
    Band:In Flames
    Styleeath Metal Melody
    Album: Clayman
    Release year: 2000
    Cover:

    Track Listing:
    1. Bullet Ride
    2. Pinball Map
    3. Only For The Weak
    4. ...As The Future Repeats Today
    5. Square Nothing
    6. Clay Man
    7. Dattelites And Astronauts
    8. Brush The Dust Away
    9. Swim
    10. Suburban Me
    11. Another Day In Quicksand

Fave Song and the one that brought me to In Flames is Only For The Weak.

    Song Summaries:

1.Bullet Ride - Starts out like this is going to be some prodigious In Flames, but falls flat on it face at the 0:35 mark with some light guitars and vocals. Luckily, this nonsense doesn't last forever as the song mushrooms into a symphony of melodic heaviness and intensity. Ludicrously commiserable section at 2:43 pretty much kills he integrity of this one, though.

2.Pinball Map - Alight, now we're getting somewhere. Expeditive, tight sound bordering on death metal. Surprisingly good chorus which consists of half-clean singing.

3.Only For The Weak - 60's style keyboards? Stuffy goth-like vocals? Sleepy time tempo? Even though it grows on you like Amorphis' retarded cousin, this just can't hold a candle up to typical In Flames.

4....As The Future Repeats Today - Begins with a strong (although generic) heavy riff, and with the exception of the 80's melodic pop meets Dark Tranquility chorus, it doesn't get any better.
5.Square Nothing - Breaking news: In Flames are not Iron Maiden. Who would have thunk it?

6.Clay Man - I'm seeing a trend develop here. All the songs start out cool, but turn into garbage...however this one seems to be a legitimately extraordinary song. In Flames gets a gold star. Ridiculous guitar work and drumming, emphatic vocals both screamed and sung, and the chorus is the smoothest and most catchy thing In Flames has ever done.

7.Sattelites And Astronauts - Breaking news: In Flames are still not Iron Maiden. On top of that, they apparently can't spell for shit, either. This is actually worse than "Square Nothing".

8.Brush The Dust Away - Compared to the average track on Clayman, this really isn't that bad. Think 80's hair metal mixed with...dare I say it...Acid Bath's When The Kite String Pops.

9.Swim - Swim, huh? Should have called this one "Floats".

10.Suburban Me - Yet another mid-tempo song that has the potential to be used as a clay pigeon, but the strong rock element saves it.

11.Another Day In Quicksand - "Another Day" must be symbolic of "generic", and "In Quicksand" must be symbolic of "lethargic tempo".

understood... i know In Flames but i've never downloaded anything from them
(too lazy and noone has recommended them to me =P)

    Band: Bathory
Style: Black/Viking Metal (yah yah, viking ain't a genre, my ass! it obtained it's own particular sound with time)
    Album: Blood Fire Death
    Release Year: 1988
Produced By: Black Mark (Boss & Quorthon)

<Just wants to point out the AMAZINGNESS of the cover>
    Tracklist:
    1.- Oden's Ride Over Nordland
2.- A Fine Day To Die
3.- The Golden Walls Of Heaven
    4.- Pace 'till Death
    5.- Holocaust
6.- For All Those Who Died
    7.- Dies Irae
    8.- Blood Fire Death
    9.- <Bonus Hidden Track> (Outro)

Favorite Songs: Oden's Ride Over Nordland-A Fine Day To Die
and a lil' bit of preference to... Blood Fire Death

    1.- Oden's Ride Over Nordland
Starts with the sound of the wind, immediatly after that you can hear a horse's whinny (or whatever it's called), then the sound of many more... coming. Then a chorus starts creating a Ragnarok atmosphere. The first horse can still be heard and then comes the keyboards to accentuate even more the atmosphere, followed up by orchestral plates/disks (don't know what they're called in english).
This is a fuckin' awesome 3 minutes intro where we can hear Odin riding Sleipnir over Nordland.... follows up by...
2.- A Fine Day To Die
Still Sleipnir's crys, this continues with the same atmosphere as the intro. After some seconds the acoustic guitar begins and the atmosphere starts to dissapear. Clean and silent vocals by Quorthon for 'bout a minute makes the beginning a rather calm tune. When 2 minutes mark is about to be obtained, the sound breaks with an aggresive riff, great drumms and a scream. The song continues with this sensation for like a minute, alternating compositions but keeping itself in line with the rest of the song, after a bit Quorthon starts to sing about what this sing is about... (already had began in the calm part)
Total silence, false peace, the sound of the northern wind. The sun's fading and so starts the night, the silent night.
Hundreds of experienced men awaiting the dawn by the campfire. The sun rises and so the banners of Ebal, the elder amongst the men speaks with pride "Tomorrow is a Fine Day to Die". Morning arrives from the east and spears can be seen in the far hill. Battle begins.

Amazing song with a crapload of changes.

3.- The Golden Walls of Heaven
Starts up with quick riffs and drumms, just plain ol' black thrashed metal
It's about the atack to the 'heavens' made by 'hell' , it ends with the following

    "Scattered battered wings
    Along the palaces and streets
    Trophy of the victory
Attached to spear of the Beast
Now spitted at is the scalp of God."

You may notice that the first letters of each verse form 'SATAN'
    OK black metal.

    4.- Pace 'till Death
Begins with an allegreto like tepmo and low riffing and drumming, then transforms to a rather quick black metal, similar formula to The Golden Walls of Heaven, but i little more on the low side of sound. Actually a good black metal song and it might be able to shine amongst the 'other bunch of black metal songs' but that depends on taste alone. For me it's good but it ain't Bathory's best.

    5.- Holocaust
It's kinda like the continuation of Pace 'till Death but this one is a bit more aggresive. Can compete against it.

6.- For All Those Who Died
A bit quicker than a mid-tempo song, it starts normal and only keeps a steady tempo for a while, until the solo, nice guitar work. Then back again to the normal tempo and ends. OK black song, tough not too special.

    7.- Dies Irae
The quickest and most aggresive song in the album, and like an hymn to black metal, simply the message in the letters from each verse...
"christ the bastard son of heaven"
It keeps a quick tempo and slows down at half of the song with a good sound from the guitar, a good semi-melodic interlude of the song. A good hear if you're angered as hell. It ends up in a calm nice way.
"Hear our master calling us his children
Eternal life is given death withdrawn
As wolves among sheep we have wandered
Victory lies beyond their spit and scorn
Even the heavens shall burn when we are gathered
Now when the flames reach for the sky"

    8.- Blood Fire Death
Together with Oden's Ride Over Nordland - A Fine Day To Die, the complete masterpiece of this album, don't know if i'll be able to describe it all.

Starts with female like chorus-keyboards and acoustic guitar, after 40 seconds start the amazing low drums and the high riffing. AWESOME tune, incredibyl melodic, then comes a short scream from Quorthon together with a change in the guitar that simply sounds even better. The singing starts

    "Deaths star on Horizon..."

Quite a lot of tempo changes in all the song, but keeping it's sound solid
AMAZING guitar drumms and back choruses, what to say of the 'agony-filled-voice' by Quorthon
The major change is at minute 6:30, after an incredible guitar work, acoustic guitar and the choruses are heard again to calm the song, just to be crushed by drumms and semi calm guitars, followed up by the tortued voice of Quorthon backed up by the choruses and the singing ends with an agony scream. The songs continues instrumental from there and makes like 3 changes.

Simply amazing, incredibly epic, fuckin' GOOD lyrics and what else can be said...

heh, i actually wonder if someone will actually bother to read all that <.<
    Greetings earthlings.

Okay, I'll do my favourite album:

    In Flames - Whoracle
(will post album cover when I have enough posts )
    Tracklist:
    1. Jotun
    2. Food For The Gods
    3. Gyroscope
    4. Dialogue With The Stars
    5. The Hive
    6. Jester Script Transfigured
    7. Morphing Into Primal
    8. Worlds Within The Margin
    9. Episode 666
    10. Everything Counts
    11. Whoracle

    Favourite song: Jester Script Transfigured

    1. Jotun
In Flames kick off the album with Jotun, which is one of their most well known and loved tracks. Jesper's leads are, as always, fantastic throughout the song. The vocals consist of both spoken word and growls (Anders is at his best on this album). Frickin fantastic.

    2. Food For The Gods
A faster paced song than Jotun, Food For The Gods is full of catchy riffs and leads and probably the best vocal performance on the album.

    3. Gyroscope
Opens with acoustic guitar and tribal style drums, then kicks into one of the best damn riffs I have heard. A hypnotizing song, to say the least. Its get stuck in your head and won't get out.

    4. Dialogue With The Stars
This is an instrumental piece where Jesper shows off his skills. Fantastic.

    5. The Hive
Its back to business with another fast paced number. The vocals aren't fantastic on this song, but everything else is top notch.

    6. Jester Script Transfigured
The highlight of the album. This track is an amazing display of all the musicians skills. It starts off with an acoustic guitar part and Anders doing a kinda croaky spoken word vocal style, then it goes into the great chorus, then goes back to another acoustic guitar part. The rest of the song after that is mostly made up of solos and fantastic riffing which are a real treat to listen to. Amazing.

    7. Morphing Into Primal
A more traditional death metal styled track, though still retaining all the trademark catchy melodies and tribal style drumming. Anders makes his growl slightly more gutteral on this track, and it fits perfectly

    8. Worlds Within The Margin
A much slower song than the rest, Worlds within the margin starts with a great riff overlapped by a voice that sounds like its speaking through a walkie-talkie, which gives this song a real atmospheric sound. Despite being slow, it does not once sound boring and is definately one of my favourites.

    9. Episode 666
A damn awsome track with the catchiest chorus on the whole album. Fantastic lead part in the middle. 'This is episode 666!!! destination chaos!!!!'

    10. Everything Counts
A cover track (forget the original artist), which one wouldn't think would fit well on such a grim album, surprisingly does. My favourite In Flames cover.

    11. Whoracle
In Flames take out the album with the beautiful 2 minute instrumental, Whoracle. Tribal drumming and acoustic guitar topped off with mesmerising female vocals.

As I said, its my favourite album ever. Get it!

Ok I guess i'll be the first to post something different here.

    Arist- Minus The Bear
    Album- Menos El Oso

    1. The Game Needed Me
    2. Memphis and 53rd
    3. Drilling
    4. The Fix
    5. El Torrente
    6. Pachucha Sunrise
    7. Michio's Death Drive
    8. Hooray
    9. Fulfill the Dream
    10. The Pig War
    11. This aint a surfing movie

Favorite Song - Tie between Drilling, Michio's Death Drive, and Hooray

    1. The Game Needed Me has an almost Jazzy feel as Minus the Bear shows off their new smooth style with this song, the vocals are crisp, lyrics mature, guitars punctual, use of fx like distorted feedback, all in there, great starting track it will get you excited for whats to come.

    2. Memphis and 53rd is a faster paced, but fairly simpler track that is easy on the ears, nothing too intricate here, this is more like a build up for the next track, closest thing to filler on the album in my oppinon.

    3. Drilling - One of my fav. tracks, probably just from the way it starts out, a nice guitar riff that sets the pace, this song is almost dancy and is deffinatly intended to be played live.

im running real low on time so i'll just do a few and maybe edit this later if anyone asks me to.

Michio's Death drive starts with a lone keyboard riff that explodes into the first verse with everything from blazing synths to perfect percussion and guitars, but it really shines in the second half when the instrumetal solo starts after a very exciting drum role. Great for blasting while cruising down the road, hence the name.

Three words to discribe Hooray? Ding Ding Ding... as the song starts with the sound that reminds me of that sound when you forget to put your seatbelt on in the car, it starts off fairly mellow, but as the lead singer predicts, spring comes when the song erupts into the loud, fast and fun chorus, then back to mellow, then back to fast,

All in all, my favorite album just because every song is a joy to listen to, i give this album full credit for completely altering my taste in music from that of a trendy scenester (all hxc, no substance) to what it is now.

Ok im back with In Flames.

    Band:In Flames
    Style: Death Metal Melody
    Album: Come Clarity
    Release year: 2006
    Cover:

    Track Listing:
    1. Take This Life
    2. Leeches
    3. Reflect The Storm
    4. Dead End
    5. Scream
    6. Come Clarity
    7. Vacuum
    8. Pacing Death's Trail
    9. Crawl Through Knives
    10. Versus Terminus
    11. Our Infinite Struggle
    12. Vanishing Light
    13. Your Bedtime Story Is Scaring Everyone

    Song Summaries:
1.Take This Life - The album begins with the song "Take This Life", which is a damned good song. It sounds a lot like a song that you'd expect to be between Colony and Clayman. Anders' lyrics are Clayman-esque, but the music is loud and bass-heavy in the same sense as Colony. The only thing separating the music (minus the vocals) from a Colony song is the presence of a catchy chorus -- for better or worse. This song is exactly what they promised, and easily made its way on my Melo-Death playlist!

2.Leeches - The music this time is harder to describe. The best I can put it is to mix a Clayman song with riffs that closely resemble but aren't quite Nu-metal riffs. Toss in Clayman lyrics, a very easy to notice chorus, and the occasional part where the vocals are singing instead of screaming. They're pretty badly timed here, though, and sound like they put a boyband over their music almost.

3.Reflect The Storm - Reflect the storm might just be the best song on the album. The chorus, once again, is brilliant. It makes me want to drift off into my happy place. This song as well has a great solo, effective without being too extravagant. The only thing I can say bad about this is at the end when only the drums are left, and it sounds like Daniel is drumming on cardboard boxes. What the fuck!

4.Dead End - Great beginning, reminiscent of Wayfarer sped up a bit. And then, when we're bracing ourselves for the onslaught of Anders' screams, we're greeted with the soft voice of a female guest vocalist! For anybody who's not much of an Anders fan, this one is good. I don't mind Anders that much, so I was fine either way. Great guitar work, great solo again, the drums absolutely drive this whole song the entire time.

5.Scream - After three good songs, and one mediocre song, I was hoping this album was going to be smooth sailing. But no, with the first opening notes, I knew my dreams were crushed. This is the typical In Flames song that is used to show that In Flames still has the "Death" in Melodic Death. Listen to Transparent or Better Off Dead and you should have a pretty good idea what I'm talking about. Except those two songs are better than this. This one actually does make me want to scream.

6.Come Clarity - After the dreadful listening experience that was "Scream", I was skeptical about what to expect next. But, luckily, it was an accoustic intro that kept me listening. When has In Flames started with an accoustic intro and possible turned into something bad? As far as I know, never. This song is a ballad, with nice guitars, decent vocals, and even some piano in the verse to help give it a relaxed feel.

7.Vacuum - The song starts out terribly and makes me want to put on Dark Tranquillity, to compare. I almost did, except a strong pre-chorus rescues this song because that's all there is to save it. Weak chorus. Weak intro. Midway you can even hear steel drums. But then at 2:27, you're taken right back to old In Flames style guitar, Whoracle-era. If it weren't for that bridge and the pre-chorus. Ironic that this song is named Vacuum, because it does, in fact, suck.

8.Pacing Death's Trail - A solid song. I cant say anything bad about it. The thing that stands out the most on this song is Daniel's drumming, which usually only served as a metronome in previous albums.

9.Crawl Through Knives - Crawl Through Knives was the original album title, before it was changed to Come Clarity. What I'm trying to say is that Crawl Through Knives is a good song to sum up the whole album. If you don't like this song, you probably wont like the others on the album.

10.Versus Terminus - HERE IT IS. The song I've been waiting for the whole album. Or at least I thought. Great up-tempo intro and verse, and then, it seems to lose it in the chorus. After that, the song really undoes itself. You're introduced to a new riff, but all it is is really a mess of low end notes, while the chorus and verse are repeated. It's too late though, I still can't get the feeling that that low end riff is coming back. And it does. Next!

11.Our Infinite Struggle - A seemingly boring song. Nothing to write home about. Except when Anders screams in the chorus "You should realize, it hurts!". Sounds more like an infinite struggle with an STD that keeps coming back.

12.Vanishing Light - What's this? A song, with a good intro, a good verse, good chorus, and overall good tempo? There must be a catch. I'll get back to you when I've found it. 2:20, still no apparent reason for me to hate this song. I have a feeling something's coming, though. Well, that's it. 3:14, it's over, and I didn't find anything I could hate.

13.Your Bedtime Story is Scaring Everyone - This isn't really a song. More like a soundtrack to a cheesy Pixar animated movie. If you're not an Anders Frieden fan, listen to this, I guarantee, its Anders Free!

So i can easily say that this album might be the best of In Flames, but still i think that every album is the best of In Flames!

For my favorite songs are Reflect The Storm,Dead End,Crawl Through Knives and Vanishing Light.
