You mean Beatles or MTV? If Beatles, they are deadly good~

Like forgot who said, they are timeless, instant classic.

    sorry for the confusion

i meant the beatles, i have yet to understand what makes them so grand and amazing when it comes to their songs, i don't think they are anything special at all, sure good to some people when it comes to tastes... but that's it, i think they are over-rated because of the time they came to be

It was until this year I thought they were just over popularized, over rated, just bunch of boys from the record company that had no talent. Then I listened to few of their songs, I knew I was wrong, and now I am their fan =D

Just look at Rolling Stone Magazine's top 500 rock song, Beatles takes the cake, with the most songs on that list, same goes for the top 500 rock albums list. (Yes I was bored, so I searched around wikipedia ><")

The sound they made was something special, unique, their lyrics as well. That's why, after 60+ years, there are still so many Beatles fan (even my fob friends like them)

i have heard songs from them, some of their hits ( my parents happen to like 'em... weird O.o ) and i can't find anything special, as i said it comes down to tastes, to me they were nowhere close to being geniouses or great musicians

and if rolling stones tell me they invented airplanes and are the best that music has to offer i wouldn't really care =P , it's nothing more than a magazine with the name of another group, i form my own criteria

Well, If you're a metal fan, you'll definitely find it hard to like the Beatles.

That isn't entirely true. Depends on what type of metal you're talking about. Screamo, or Black metal or whatever type of metal that's just grunting with heavy guitar solos (Don't get me wrong. I do like bands like Demon Hunter and Winter sun), I would say it'd be hard for them to like. But Metal roots initially from Zepplin and Sabbath and other classic rock metal bands. I know many a people that are big fans of classic rock metal and the beatles (me being one of them.)

Just to continue my rant and ignoring my homework, almost all music today (except Country, classical, and rap) stems from Classic rock (I really would like people that disagree and argue me on that...). Jazz could accurately be called the start of Classic Rock (Which I like Jazz a lot too...) but rock seemed to be the genre that spread out. The beatles brought a brand of pop rock, the Rolling stones a grislier sound, Elvis the good ol' Rock sound and the yardbirds just a lot of really talented people. These and The Who, the grateful dead and Pink Floyd I consider the forefathers of Rock, bringing forth hundreds of styles, and mixing in with other types of music. So for the beatles, I do not think that they are the best anymore, but they need to be appreciated deeply to their contribution to the music that has developed so much over the years. And in years, their music can still hold with todays bands. The 60's and 70's were an era unlike any other generation at the time. (before 1900's cause I don't really know what they listened to before that besides classical and country music). But nowadays, I find a lot of music dull, bland, oversynthesised and just unoriginal. That is why my classic rock outnumbers my modern rock on my computer. Wow I wrote a lot. Sorry if you read this whole thing.
    End Rant.
